Yesterday I started getting the dreaded "disc read error message" on my PS2. I have only been playing my newer games MLB 08 The Show and Fifa Euro 2008, and they still work. All my older games like Fifa 08, NCAA FB 08, etc.... will not load and I get the message.
The console is actually a older model (2001) and has worked fine to this point. I imagine I will have to open it up and clean it with some compressed air. It is 7 years old and I am in no rush to open it, I am afraid I may find Hoffa buried in it. I am not totally useless, but by no means a electronics wiz.
What I am asking is what have been some of your experiences if you have had a similar problem. Any fixes? Have you lost the patient in surgery? and what has been the outcome of your endeavor.
Also the disks that are supposed to clean the eye that reads the disk, do they work? or do they scratch the screen?
