    360 Hard Drive

Long time ago I got the core and bought a HD...12 GB or something like that.

So last year (8-8-07) my 360 dies. I go to Best Buy and because I had the 2 year warranty had to pay $50 for the newer 360's because they don't sell the Core anymore so I got a new HD. I didn't use it though because all my stuff is on the other one.

So today my new 360 dies. Almost a year it made it! Wahoo. Anyways tomorrow I am going back to Best Buy since I re-upped the warranty.

So my question is what happens if the HD dies. Is there anyway to transfer everything from my original HD to the newer HD? I'm not that upset but would be if I lost my Live, points, saved games, and dloaded stuff.

    Thanks.

actually, you can ask the best buy people to let you keep your current HDD, and they will swap it with the new console.

As for the HDD dying, you really only lose your saves. DLC, achievements, and XBLA games are linked to your XBL account. So you'd just have to recover your gamertag and download all the stuff you paid for again for no new cost.

Cool thanks! My saves are really important though. I would lose everything for GT4, College Hoop 2k, NCAA and Barbie's Horse Adventure.

Can it be transferred to a USB drive or something?

Call Microsoft and get a data transfer cable.

that only officially works going from 20gb to 120gb hdds - read the roster faq thread in the nba 2k8 sub forum for help if you do want to do this though (it can be done)

if you have a memory card then just save it to the card, that's what I did when I upgraded to the elite system.

no, that would be too simple. The PS3 lets you do that, but MS wants people to pay for memory cards. You could also buy a cable to transfer saves off a memory card to the PC for that extra fuzzy feeling of backup security if you wish.
