Re: How Gamestop is Ripping you off

I have first hand experience of the 'forgotten pre-orders' b.s. that someone posted about in another thread. I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, I'm in a GS the other day looking for some PSP games to pick up for my vacation. I hear this douche, who I assume was the manager, say to a female employee who was busy pricing a butt load of GBA games, "Did you cancel a pre-order today?" She replies "Uh, yeah." He says "Why exactly?!?" She goes on to explain that a mother and her son came in to pick up a game and also change one of the kid's pre-orders. The mother happened to ask if her son had anything else pre-ordered and it turned out he still had MGS4 pre-ordered and never bought it. They asked if they could use the $5 towards the purchase of the new game and the clerk obliged. This manager, who I will refer to a Douchey, says "Why did you tell them they had an old pre-order?" The clerk says "Because they asked." Douchey then says "Well that's just great! Now we have to get another pre-order today!"

What a jerk. First of all he's complaining about $5, which belonged to the customer anyway! Secondly it was about 1pm in the afternoon so I'm sure it wasn't going to be tough to get another pre-order by business close.

I swear, if I weren't in uniform and held to a higher standard I would've laid into that clown.

I made the most money and bought most used games through craigslist. Luckily I live in a big city so its not hard to find a buyer for most of the games. I usually meet people half way and if there too far I say too bad.

I understand what you guys are saying but I also think you are looking at it the wrong way. When you buy new game @ $60, you are basically saying "I think this game is worth $60 of fun. I would rather have this game than $60 in my wallet." Now when you beat the game or just stop playing it, it is your decision whether you feel you got $60 worth of fun or if you got ripped off at the begining purchase. If you did indeed feel the game was worth $60 and you feel satisfied for giving up the $60 for it, but no longer play the game, then Gamestop buying from you for (let just say) $20, is a profit of $20 for you. Now if you are not satisfied then that $20 goes to make some of your loss.
