XBOX 360 Repairs

Is there any way I can fix an E 74 error myself on an xbox 360. I have tried all of the trouble shooting tips and nothing. I think its garbage that xbox is trying to make me pay 110 dollars to fix this. Sony fixed my PS2, even after the warranty ended years ago for free. My friends have all had this problem. Its obviously a problem with their hardware. I think its sad that my nintendo from 1988 still works, but my XBOX 360 can't even last 3 years.

Anyway I can even get this repaired for free, if I can't fix it myself?

I got this error last year as well. I'm not sure if you can get it fixed any where but the towel trick will let you use it for another week or two. I'm about to be on my third xbox even though that one did come back to life a year later for three weeks.

My cousin went through a guy locally on craigslist. 40 bucks and he got it working, and it's still going after 8 months. Hopefully you can find a guy who can do it locally.

I was having DDE and noise problems. I couldn't get free repair, but I got half off by filing a complaint with the BBB.
