    Re: September NPD

It's unfortunate the PS3 dropped so much compared to the 360 this month, but I'm attributing that to the RB release for now.

      It's the price drop.

            Re: September NPD

Japanese hardware sales for the week

            • Nintendo DS - 31,914
            • PSP - 23,901
            • Wii - 22,877
            • Xbox 360 - 7,763
            • PlayStation 2 - 6,982
            • PlayStation 3 - 5,734

This makes 5 weeks in a row that the 360 has outsold the PS3 on it's home turf.

            Past 5 week totals

            360 - 69,290
            PS3 - 37,450

Not like this is going to turn the tide for Microsoft in Japan, but still, who would've thought this was possible?

Yeah I thought about that, especially when they were the ones that first jumped at M$ throat in the beginning of all of this about multiple SKU's

This gen has been nothing short of wacky

I know some people feel a need to defend their console, but seriously, the only non-offender of this practice is actually Nintendo. Even the DS model is relatively stable compared to the PSP.

This whole business tactic is annoying, but Sony has done far more juggling of console options than MS has. How many times have they completely dropped a model? You need a chart to even know which models have what features anymore.

While to the naked eye most PS3s look pretty much alike, Sony will soon have released six separate SKUs for the console. Mostly the results of cost

Sony took the shenanigans to a new level with a false price drop by pairing the less featured 40 gig ps3 model with an 80 gig HDD and calling it a $100 price drop on the 80 gig model. Talk about consumer confusion. Wizard!!

Not trying to start an argument here or anything...but why is it "unfortunate"? Why do you care? Are you a Sony stockholder?

Also, when this gen of systems come to an end, you think people are going to remember Microsoft out selling the PS3? Nope, the one thing that Microsoft will remember for is there 3 red lights, and there coffins. And that's the truth, and I don't think that a good thing to be remember by.

That's one of the things they'll be remembered for... but to come off 100 million PSx's and 150 million PS2's and then to lose to MS the 3rd go around (if that happens) will be something they'll be remembered for as well.

Red lights will be discussed, but how many PS2's died left and right near the end from not being able to read blue back discs. No one even mentions that anymore.
