Re: Owning a PS3 and 360 - Worth it for casual gamer?

I wouldn't own both. Once I bought my PS3, the 360 pretty much became a dust collector. It was used in the room as a DVD player (had the PS3 elsewhere) and that's about it. I rarely played it or turned it on for months... but it's sitting in a UPS warehouse right now trying to make it's way to the repair center for the second time. They will be sending me my third 360. I'd just stick with the one, I can't find enough time in the day to play them all, yet I own them all for some reason. It's nice is a good exclusive comes out, but the Halo's and Gears of Wars and most exclusive games really aren't my type. So for me, just having one system in the future seems like the way to go. And due to the way this time turned out I'll be waiting on the next Playstation instead of the Xbox.

If you have the money, I'd say sure, it's worth it.

When I play on LIVE I do not get LAG at all but on PSN with the SAME connection It lags a significant amount.
PSN may have gotten better but it's still behind a good ways IMO.
Hoepfully they get a lot better before the new MLB The Show releases.

I play my PS3 exclusively. My 360 gives me all kinda problems. The tray doesn't open all the time, I get dirty disc errors, it freezes. It's my 3rd and I'm sick of it. I shouldn't have to buy a new version to have some reliability.

I'd say no. The only time I play the PS3 is when I want to relive some Heavenly Sword... that game is awesome.

I have both. If you can afford to get the 360 without skimping on other needs, go ahead. You will need the 50/month for live which is the best part of the 360. You can get a refurbed 360 online for like 150.

I have a PS3 and 360 and really wouldn't want it any other way. If you have an HDTV and watch a decent amount of Movies the Blu Ray player almost makes the purchase worth it on that alone. And if you're a big baseball fan... forget about it. That was the reason I made the purchase to begin with. MLB The Show is in a league of it's own when compared to 2k's offering. Plus, there's all of the other exclusives.. I've also started buying more sports games for ps3 because it's just so easy to transfer rosters.

Though as much as I like my ps3 I don't think I could go with out Live. If you have some buddies that are also on live it is just so much easier to get together and play games. And while the PSN is much better than it was, it still has noticeably more lag than live. Plus, there are still games that have a slight edge in graphics and performance on the 360. I know that really isn't a big deal, but it's something.

I think it's worth it, as long as you can afford both and you think you'll get a decent amount of use out of both systems.
                Now, more than ever

I own 3 systems. 360, PS3, and gaming PC. Now this is how I get use out of all my systems

I buy exclusives for all of course. Gears - 360, The show - PS3, Flight sims - PC

I buy my games that have a big multiplayer draw on the 360

I buy my Shooters on the PC, because of mouse/keyboard controls

I buy my action, adventure, single player games on the PS3

All in all if you have a PS3 and don't play online often. Then just stick with the PS3. 360s main draw is its excellent online.
