Re: The Official OS PS3 Trophy Collectors Thread

I'm wondering... of all the games played this year, which games were your favorites to grab trophies in? What specific trophy was your hardest/most rewarding?

As for myself, I think the trophies in DiRT 2 were really fun to get... Some of the titles were pretty funny (Two Girls One Cup, Best Friends Forever) and the game was just really fun to play both on and offline... Quite thrilling when you apply the handbrakes upon the approach of a hairpin turn, and then accellerating up to 150 mph along the edge of a cliff! Then bumping an online oppenent off of that said cliff and earning the trophy for winning an online race. Hahah.

I also dug Uncharted 2... because there is a series of trophies that asks for 20, 100, and 250 headshots. There's also one for getting 5 in a row. Haven't had this much fun hitting those headshots since Unreal Tournament. Shave and a haircut!

Even though the game was released the year prior, the hardest was the platinum for Call of Duty: World at War, whose trophy I got this year... The plat involved finishing the entire game on Veteran difficuty... When you see 10+ grenades on your grenade indicator, you sometimes ask yourself "why do I even bother?".... CoD:MW2 Vet mode is MANY TIMES easier than this WW2 shooter.

For me it would be skate 2. The trophy for getting all the online challenges complete was, without question, my favorite. The challenges were hard enough that you had to do them a bunch of times over but not too hard that they were frustrating. Plus as you did the challenges they felt awesome when you got them. And there were a ton of them 146 I think so it kept the game going.

Most fun/rewarding: Rock Band 2, specifically the Endless Setlist trophies. I'm sure if I had a wife/kids I would be pissed, but I don't so I have the time to dedicate 7 consecutive hours to playing a video game. I don't have these trophies myself yet, but I helped my friend get them over at his place. Nearly 7 straight hours of singing for me (he played bass), trying to strike a balance between drinking water to save my voice and not drinking too much that I would have to pee in a bucket, lol. 'Twas a lot of fun.

Easiest: Madden 10. Pretty sure I got 90% of the trophies in one sitting.

Hardest (Fair Division): Zen Pinball. No plat, but the silver trophies are insanely difficult. Haven't even come close to getting those.

Hardest (Unfair Division): Fight Night Round 4. It is nearly impossible to get the platinum because there are three trophies that require you to take an online championship belt away from someone. Problem is there is only ONE belt in the entire world for each weight class! Good luck with that.

The only plat I've gotten was R&C...and it wasn't very fun. Although I think that it wasn't fun because the second run-through was not challenging at all (even though the name was "challenge mode"). I would describe it all as tedious.

I am probably aiming high on this one, but I picked up Uncharted 2 after Christmas (I know, I never got around to getting it), and one thing the interests me about the trophies is that there are no real competitive online trophies. Just two, one for playing a competitive match, one for playing co-op. Besides that, it's just playing it on crushing, finding treasure, and getting kills with all of the weapons. So I guess that will be my little "project"...although I'm not a great player when it comes to shooters, so Crushing may be tough, but I'm confident I will be able to stumble through.

Agree, the second run through on Ratchet and Clank was really tedious as it was far from a challenge. Funny you bring up Uncharted 2 as I just started playing that today and its awesome. The one thing I really dislike about games and these trophies is when a game requires you to basically play through it twice as once I beat a game I really just want to move on to something new but if I want the platinum Ive gotta sit through it all over again with zero suspense as I know whats going to happen now.

              Consider yourself lucky.

I beat it on normal, totally oblivious to the fact the you have to beat it on hard to unlock crushing. I hate myself, I hate the game developers, I hate everything right now.

I'm gonna try and stick it out though. I could use the extra practice.

I agree with the last part though, but at least this will be challenging. R&C was painfully boring and easy.

I don't know if it still happens now, but a while back there was a person with one of the belts who told folks that he wasn't going to accept their challenge unless if he was gifted PS Store cash before the fight... hahaha. What an a-hole.

I thought the same thing, but I used the multiple playthroughs as a chance to grab all the hidden treasures... Got kinda sick swiveling the camera around 360 degrees every 5 minutes

Anyone having any problems with the trophies actually displaying correctly? It will synch fine and it shows it if I go in to my trophy collection on the PS3 but when I click to look at my "stats" card it doesnt reflect the updated trophy yet. It sure the hell would be nice if they could make this synch automatically like the 360, and maybe work as well.

Squeaky, I heard there is a guy still doing that. LOL! It is EA's fault though w/ how they implemented this system.

On Playstation.com, do the trophies for Guitar Hero Van Halen show up for anyone else? It's both this game and God of War collection that do not show up.

Im not having trouble staying connected but it wont update right. For instance, Ive got 51 of the treasures in Uncharted 2 which gets you a trophy when you hit 50. If you click on "my trophy collection" on the PS3 it shows that I have it but if you click to view my card it shorts me 2 trophies, the PS3 website shorts me as well and it still hasnt updated correctly and its been an hour or so by now. I just dont get what the problem is but one thing I do know is Sony has completely screwed up this entire trophy thing to the point that its laughable. One day it might actually work correctly and continue to work correctly but these little problems do nothing but aggravate me further.

I agree. These trophy problems have me ultra pissed off since 2 games that I have don't show up on the list for playstation.com and the sync sometimes takes 30 minutes to an hour for the site. They should be embarrassed of themselves with these mishaps. One of the titles is God of War Collection which is a AAA title of theirs.
