I didnt pay 600 bux for mine though. Same price as the 360 was for me.

I wonder what they'd do in the case I do trade mine in. Do I get a refund?

Even though they needed a price cut, they couldn't do it; it just didn't make sense.

They were on the market for a year shorter compared to the 360, factor in their hardware cost almost $1000 to make.

because they aren't in a vacuum. Most people don't care the ps3 has been out a year less than the 360, it still costs more than the 360 and wii. You can actually say that the ps3 has never had a price drop, as they only carved off $100 from the price tag by dropping features and using the gimped 40 gig model exclusively for all versions of the console.

2009 could finally be the year of the ps3 though, as their upcoming exclusives look better than what the 360 has announced so far, and a price drop will get attention for the console.

It doesn't matter. The bottom line is a price cut too soon might have cost them a lot more than not doing it. Perhaps the price cut would move more consoles, who knows but the 360 and Wii had it going strong either way this year.

The bottom line is, and usually has been that you cut the price of manufacturing the hardware before you cut the hardware price.

Check their standings

Check the economy

Check them backtracking on the price now

All they needed was a simple nex gen machine, but they put bumbling idiots like Kenny K. in the forefront and he botched it.

Kenny botched a lot of exclusives and game support but the hardware itself is top notch. This generation still has a long way to go and the PS3 is best suited for the long hall with the hardware.

It doesn't matter how you start but how you finish. If PS3 bounces back than all this won't matter. Even in the place they are now, that is still possible. Maybe not in the US but world wide for sure.

I just look at this generation as consoles like the last one. The PS2 was the most popular and always was. But XBOX was the most powerful. Now the roles are reversed, with the Wii wild card thrown in to take away sales from both.

How anyone can claim what Sony is doing with their hardware without working there is beyond me.

It does matter how you start, but it might not be as important if Sony can prove otherwise. I dont think they'll match what the PS2 has done in the end, which is sad considering the superior hardware.

doesn't do anything for Sony right now though. Anyone even slightly interested in a ps3 will wait until April, even if Sony says it isn't happening.
