PS2 has died! going to Next Gen!

Hello everyone! I have beeen a PS2 owner for some time now and it has finally crapped on me. So i figured what the heck im getting income tax back here soon, So im thinking im going Next Gen! Im looking at getting an Xbox 360 Arcade for the price cant beat it! Its better than what i don't have now...Right! Im also getting madden 09 for it. I really don't have questions, Im just at a point where i want somthing different. Any pointers for a new Xbox owner!

Get a hard drive for it. CC had them, better want to try them quickly before they are completely gone

Sorry to hear your PS2 died; I love that console and was so happy I got another one this Christmas after my original died.

Definitely look to get a hard drive for the system. I started off with a Core (Arcade) and found a 20-gig HD for $40 at a store that was going out of business. With Circuit City closing, you might be able to get a good deal on one; definitely worth the upgrade.

You might also be able to an XBL subscription card discounted there as well.

Madden is a good game on 360, but it won't seem as "complete" as the PS2 version.

Well Thanks for the info man. Yea the o'l ps2 finally kicked the bucket so im getting the Xbox 360 arcade. I'm not really into online there is too much stuff garbage in online AKA Cheaters, people telling you you suck cursing at you. And that's just not my style i like playing against either the cpu or a buddy here at the house. But thanks buddy i will be def looking into a harddrive.:wink:

I would consider getting the pro bundle. For $100 more than the arcade, you get the 60gb hdd, headset, and the hi def cables. Its just a better deal imo.

I have the 60 GB. Its great. If I were you, I would go with the 60 GB. The arcade doesn't hold as much.

My PS2 died recently too. I'll probably get a PS3 before the end of the year...hopefully.

If you're gonna get a 360 get used to your system dying even more! Wich reminds me I better call about those blue dots and it not playing DVDs tomorrow. I keep forgetting.

One of my online friends got an arcade 360 the other day. Her mom and aunt bought it for her cause she wanted to play Assassin's Creed. She asked me to help her figure out how to get it online. Apprently there was no ethernet cable. Then I asked if she had wireless anyway. She did then I told her how she had to spend another $100 for the reciver thing,another $50 for XBL gold if she wanted to play online then remembered it was the arcade and she wouldn't be getting online with it anyway because she'd have to buy a hard drive too. Her response was..."Well that just sucks". So the arcade is really only good if you never plan on going online at all for anything.

Forget the Arcade and get the Pro dude. You'll need a hard drive anyway if you plan on playing a few games and actually plan on saving your progress. 100 bucks more, you get an HDMI cable, 60gb HDD, etc... I would say, honestly, for you, the Arcade is a waste of money.

Get the Pro.

Uderstandable... I'd just hate to see you spend MORE money in the long haul, when the Pro (big pitcher) is really the cheaper option.

I agree with goh PS3 all the way... If you get an arcade you still have to pay to play online, buy an adapter to get your 360 online if you are not close to your router, buy a hard drive... You might as well go for a more solidly built system in the PS3... Thats coming from a guy with both systems, and someone who has been through 2 360's and my current 360 is having a problem connecting to live, and MS is being no help at all.. 2 ps3's only because I sold my first one which was an original 60gb which I regret, and now I own 2 80gb's one is my 8 year old sons, and the other belongs to me..

Think your wife is mad now, wait until she hears you tell her that your 360 is broken.... LOL... My wife was so pissed that I told her that my 360 is screwing up again for the 3rd time, she said if your going to get our son a system for his birthday, it better not be a 360... LOL, so i got him the PS3, and then 2 weeks later got myself one... And she says I should sell the 360...
