I've never bought anything refurbished so I want to make a smart decision. Would it be safer just to spend the extra 100 on a new system? I seen a few used systems running around $320 right now.

Refurbished/Used System?
I'm looking at getting a PS3 agian but I'm not looking forward to shelling out 400 for a system right now and was looking on Amazon and seen Refurbished & Used systems about a 100 dollars cheaper than the new systems. I'm just wondering how everyone feels on refurbished systems and what experiences good/bad have you had with purchasing one?

Re: Refurbished/Used System?
If you do, don't get them Gamestop. When I bought a refurbished 360, 2 of them were defective. The first one froze as soon as I turned it on and the other one had a power supply that looked like it had been microwaved. Making three trips across town in the pouring rain was a VERY irritating experience. Fortunately the third has been a charm, hasn't given me any problems yet.

If you include the two refurbished units that were messed up, I've replaced 7 360's. Most poorly constructed console that I've ever owned. -

I have never bought a refurbished system. I have bought used systems before and never had a problem. A buddy of mine bought a refurbished PS3 and has not had any problems with it.Comment

Yea, that's why I'll never own a 360. I had a PS3 for about a year before I sold it because I was busy with school and work and needed money. Re: Refurbished/Used System?
Only bought one used system around 2 years ago. An original XBox to use as a backup for mine. I loved it, the guy who had it before me only had 3 games on the internal HD...nothing else. I assume he didn't use it very much and just decided to trade it in for cash.Comment

Re: Refurbished/Used System?
I personally would be worried about buying a refurb. Word is a price drop is coming in the near future if you are not in a rush. Also it's still 10% on gaming systems at Circuit City which might go to 15-20% anyday with them going out of business. Good Luck finding one just be careful especially on a 360 refurb. Re: Refurbished/Used System?
I got a 360 refurb off ebay and it's done pretty well. However, it's also the only 360's I've had since the NXE came out allowing us to play off the HDD. After 5 dead 360's, 3 from MS RROD replacements, I'm just about to the point where I'll fix them myself if I have anymore problems. I fixed up plenty of ps2's back in the day to turn around for profit on ebay.Comment
