Question about deactivating a PS3

As a lot of you know, I have been somewhat of a system swapper in the past. I recently got a new PS3 and I tried to download the COD 4 map pack and while it let me load $20 and pay the $10 for it, it won't let me download it because it says my account is active on 5 other systems. I called sony and they told me I was SOL. I have NO access to these other systems. Is there anything I can do??

Calling them is the only thing you can do. If they're not playing ball, I don't know that there's anything you can do.

A while back I had to get my PS3 exchanged, and I needed to provide my service request number when I screwed up and forgot to deactivate my movie store account on the old one. And that was just for one system.

Unless you had CC info or something on that account, you might want to just bite the bullet and make a new account...

This is a bunch of BS. I just talked to Sony again. They said there is nothing they can do. I am not even pissed over the fact I have to create a new account, I am pissed because I just blew $20 for no ****ing reason.

Sony better get their act together. The last thing they need is to alienate customers right now. I am pretty damn tempted to say screw it and get a 360 again.

Yeah, if you didn't deactivate the other systems, you are SOL unfortunately. Sony allows their content to be linked up to 5 systems, once you hit that 6th, all prior stuff is gone.

One of the disadvantages of the open downloading that they have, as I've read online where people shared DLC and then got screwed when they had a PS3 died since it had been swapped so many times.

How is it that it got on the 5 other systems? This doesn't sound like something that was Sony's fault.

It's somewhat a fair rule as long as you deactivate the consoles.

I'd call again and ask Sony to deactivate the account under the other systems.

I did. They won't do it. They want proof of ownership, which I don't have. I knew nothing about deactivating systems when I got rid of my other ones.

Did you buy every single one of your PS3's with cash? Anywhere you used credit you have proof ownership.

I believe a store like Best Buy has the serial number imprinted on the reciept as well... and if not them, some other store.
