PS3 backwards compatiblility?
I guess I found out the hard way. I thought that PS3s played PS2 titles? I just tried it out, and the screen states "this model not equipped to play PS2 software" or something to that effect. Do I have to download a program to my PS3 or what?Tags: None -
Re: PS3 backwards compatiblility?
Only the 20 and 60's played all PS2 titles. The original 80 played some PS2. -
Re: PS3 backwards compatiblility?
WOW!! I totally forgot about the 20GB. I wanted to get a PS2 compatibility so I was looking for the 60 GB. I guess I'll be redirecting my eyes from now on.......

Re: PS3 backwards compatiblility?
I don't see how that is true, I have the 80 gig that came with Warhawk. And honestly every PS1 and PS2 game I have works on it. Every last one and I have a lot of them. When I first got the console I started testing games before I sold my brother my PS2.Comment

Re: PS3 backwards compatiblility?
They removed it from every PS3 after the last batches of 80 gigs were released.
The 20/60 were launch, had PS2 chips in them.
The next 80's did emulation, played most PS2 games. The 40 that came out the same time did not. The next batch of 80's had it removed like the 40's.
After, it's been removed from all PS3's.Comment

Doesn't seem like a very smart decision, wonder why they did that? They just said to hell with everyone that wants to play their PS2 games huh? They removed it from every PS3 after the last batches of 80 gigs were released.

Re: PS3 backwards compatiblility?
If you can find a new 80GB (MGS version), I'd get that since those will have BC. I think the numbers were over 80% PS2 games work with the rest having minor problems playing. I think Amazon might still have those.Comment
