    GDC: Nintendo Keynote

    Satoru Iwata Keynote @9AM PST

Iwata's speech, titled Discovering New Development Opportunities, will delve into making better tools for developers so more opportunities arise for innovative ideas to succeed and flourish.

But we don't care about that; speculation is rife that Iwata has a stable of Wii titles to unveil, including projects by the Mario and Zelda teams. We heard from Nintendo last E3 that both teams were hard at work.

11:32:13 - From Tom: The Wii system software has been updated so that you can download stuff to, and run stuff from, SD cards. This appears to include all channels, WiiWare and VC games.

That's cool...I just wish there were some Nintendo based Wii games announced...

It was good they were trying to explain to other devs about how to make good Wii games (because a lot are lacking), but it's just frustrating as a gamer when all the other systems have awesome games coming out so often, but the Wii gets junk party games most of the time.

It almost feels as Nintendo is trying to go the Wiiware route from here on out except for the major Mario, Zelda, Punchout titles.

Yeah, I just don't know...Right now on my radar is PunchOut and EA's Tennis and Tiger Woods. Without those I honestly can't think of any cool Wii games coming.

For 360 or PS3, the list is crazy...

But what do I know, Nintendo's selling a crapload of Wiis, and we're obviously not the target audience...They're making cash hand over fist on the people who get games once in a while when they see something at the store I guess, along with the rare first party game (Smash Bros, etc). Can't blame them for not making more games cause that costs money and probably not much reward.
