Does anyone have an extended warranty with their PS3? I have until after the weekend to get mine from Best Buy. Which is 2 years for $60 bucks. I sometimes buy warranties, and then never use them, so I was wondering if it was even worth it. I don't know the rate that PS3's break, but I am leaning towards it being a waste of money.

I replied to you in a other thread when you asked this. My opinion, it's not worth it anymore from BestBuy, if it's broke they have there jackarse geek squad work on your machine and try to repair it, if all fails there last option is to give you a new machine, I would not spend any money knowing that this idiots at the queek squad will be messing with my PS3. There is no more swapping machines under the BB warranty at all anymore.N.Y Mets

**** happens man and u dont want to have to buy a whole new ps3 when urs mess up. not trying to jinx u or anything.
i bought my 60gb ps3 in aug 07. never thought i would need my warranty but i bought it anyway. 3 year warranty. so in febuary i get the YLOD (yellow lights of death). there fixing it now but if they couldnt i would get a target gift card for the amount i paid for it and would be able to buy me another one.

Dook I think you should be fine, I bought a PRP for my 60 gig one when I got it almost 2 years ago and have been fine. In fact I'm thinking about using it to get a new ps3 just so I don't feel like I wasted 100 bucks. I'm not sure how the PRP works now with best buy though, or even if they would still honor it.Go Yankees

Yup should've got it.
Just saw that article the yesterday with someone from Sony saying the Wii owns the closest. Sony owns my closest with all their broke *** systems,PS3 included. No Nintendo ones in there cause they worked untill the day I traded them in. On second thought every single one of 'em failed just after an extended warranty would've been up so maybe it doesn't matter but still think you should've got it.Comment

I never get warranties on systems, its just stores making money off of your fear. The only time I ever had a system die on me was the PS2 after I had it for 13 months and I got Sony to replace it without a warranty. If a system breaks through no fault of your own and you make a big enough stink about it (and its within a reasonable frame of time) most companies will take care of you. Chances are, you won't have any problems in that 2 year window anyways.Comment

My ps3 with maybe 50 hours of game time on it just went. Wont read games or movies.
May 2007 model - got as a gift - sony warranty is only a year
If it breaks and you are no under warranty, $150 for sony to fix it or they give u a new one.Comment
