My fan is real loud too, and my Ps3 is dust free, I noticed the loudness only after the 2.70 update and only when I'm playing the show.

Same here FF...not that it matters, but i think we both have 60s right?

Guys on other boards are complaining about the same thing. It must be 2.70 that is kicking these fans into level 2 sooner than expected. It helped mine out a bit getting all that dust out.

I haven't read anything yet, but I would have thought it had to do with the FW update, This is not the first time a FW update has made my PS3 loud. I'm really not worried about it.

In my experience, the louder fan kicking on all the time was indeed a sign of bad things, but those bad things took a long time to come around. I just replaced by old unit less than a month ago, and it had been having problems for almost a year. So, in other words, the lifespan of a PS3 with fan problems can still be a year or so. The one I replaced even still works, I just didn't want any more hassle. FWIW.

I will stick to my guns and still say it's a firmware issue, the loud noise only come when playing the show, every other game is quite.

My PS3 only sounds weird when playing The Show. Funny thing is it did not start happening until the Patch came out a week or so ago. No other that I play in my rotation makes my PS3 loud like the Show. After 4 mos since switching from the 360 I love my PS3. If something were to happen I would buy another PS3 before a 360. Sony has finally got my money. 360 is still a great machine but for my the PS3 has made me a happy player. Peace!!!!!

I had to replace 3 XBOX 360's.....am I screwed again?
Any chance that this problem can correct itself or should I just bend over and grant $ony entrance?

This is an 60GB that's 2 years old.

Anyone have good/bad experiences with replacements?

Sounds like the Blu-ray drive died. Sony handles fixes pretty quickly, but it'll cost you $150.

Yeah I had the same problem with a 2 year old console.

I let it sit for a few days and tried a DVD last night. It worked... haven't tried a game yet.

I've looked over the PS3 and I can't seem to find the screws. Are the screws in the HDD compartment? I'm trying to take the PS3 apart to clean it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
