    Decisions, Decisions...

Hey guys, looking for a little help deciding what to do with my console situation.

Here's the deal: My 360 is broken, and out of warranty. It's not the 3 red lights, it's a visual problem that M$ won't fix for free. So now I basically own a console that I can neither play nor sell.

I've been thinking about getting a PS3 to fill the void that my broken 360 has left, but I obviously don't have the money for it. If I could trade in my 360 and all my games/hardware towards a PS3, that would make it much more affordable, but I'm not sure how much credit I'll get for a broken 360.

So basically, how much could I get in credit for my 360? Would they (people at gamestop) even know if it was broken?

They will check it before they take it and i want to say you might only get $40 or $20 in store credit.

      I also own a console I can't play,sell or get fixed,it's the PS3.
Get a gaming PC if you're getting something else instead of another 360.

really, you could get very decent money on eBay for a Broken PS3, at least a $100 or more, go look for yourself.

It would probably be best to just throw the broken 360 on ebay and take what you can for it. Someone will still buy it if it hasn't been opened in hopes of getting a cheap 360 they can send to MS, or just to use for parts. Even if you paid MS to fix it, you won't get much trading it in, so why bother if you're interested in getting a ps3?

An arcade model is the same as the elite and premium 360's, so you can also get one of those for $200 and use your HDD on it.

            Re: Decisions, Decisions...

Well the guy at gamestop said he would give me 40 for it broken, 80 if they can solve the problem. That's around what they go for on eBay so it's not really worth the trouble of shipping/waiting.

I'll probably go in tomorrow with the following:

            360 (broken)
            20 gig HD
            Wireless Controller
            Wired Controller
            Fifa 09
            COD WAW
            Halo3
            Halo2
            Halo

I still don't know exactly what I'm going to do. Probably won't get a whole lot of credit for that, but if I get a decent amount I'll put it towards a Wii or PS3.

I would say, whatever you decide, don't by any means make a Wii your only console. They are fun and cute at first, but I guarantee you in a month of two you will really be wishing you had a PS3 or 360.

                Re: Decisions, Decisions...

Well, they didn't check to see if the 360 worked, so I got 170 in credit, put it towards a PS3 (used, 40 gig) and Killzone 2 and Oblivion. Good deal I think.

Funny thing was, the guy who helped me was clearly new, but the other two people there were managers, and they gave him a gold star for his good work (lol, what?) even though he didn't check to see if everything worked.

Got to love GS. I remember when I was making an exchange as I had a warranty they didn't ask to see the receipt. Just gave me a new one and asked for my name. lol

                  Congrats on the purchase.

A gold star? What is this, kindergarten? Geez.

Hey, at least it worked out for you. Enjoy the PS3.

Wow, they didn't check it out? Man I need to take my busted 360 up there. At least try the towel trick and get it working for a bit.

Killzone 2 is an amazing game. You're going to love it.

And when I traded in my DS a few weeks ago, my local Gamestop spent about ten minutes making sure that it worked. They tested it out on about eight or nine different games.

You would think that a system so notorious for breaking down would be scrutinized heavily. Oh, well. Not your problem anymore.

Yes someone offered $150 on another site (or maybe it was here even) but I only ever deal in cash, other than borrowing someone else's CC to use on PSN and give them the money so Ebay isn't an option.

I sold my broken PS3 for $240 on ebay once. I think it sold so high because it was silver.
