Which Xbox 360 console is right for me?

Later on this week, I am planning to buy a brand new Xbox 360 console. The question I have is which model is right for me? They have 3 models with 3 price ranges. The 1st one is cheapest one called the Arcade bundle for $199.99. The 2nd one is called the Pro bundle for $299.99. The last bundle is called the Elite bundle for $399.99.

The Arcade Bundle features a Bonus Disc with the following titles:
    • Feeding Frenzy
    • Luxor 2
    • Boom Boom Rocket
    • Pac-Man Championship Edition
    • Uno
Also included is a Wireless Controller, a 256 MB Memory Unit, and the necessary cables.

The Pro 60 GB model features a 60 GB Harddrive, the necessary cables, Ethernet cable, and Wired Headset.

The Xbox 360 Elite Game of the Year Bundle includes the following items:
    • Black Xbox 360 Elite Console
    • 120GB Hard Drive
    • Black Wireless Controller
    • Halo 3 for Xbox 360
    • Fable II for Xbox 360
    • Black Wired Headset
    • Component HD AV Cable
    • HDMI Cable
    • Ethernet Cable
I'd go with the Elite model, but I don't want to spend $400 for a game console and I'm not a fan of either Halo 3 or Fable II.

I'd say Elite but you said you don't like Halo or Fable (which are 2 of the best games on the 360), so I'd say the Pro. 60 GB HDD while the arcade doesn't come with a HDD at all.

I'm leaning more toward the Pro 60GB model because of the price only. I need a HDD personally because I want to play some old school Xbox titles and it easier to save your game files than on those Memory Units. Plus, I plan to download a lot from the XBLA. The 1st one I plan to buy is Marvel vs Capcom 2. Then, I'll buy Castlevania: SotN.

Sounds like the Pro is the right one for you.

Yeah, downloading from XBLA is very hard to do with MUs vs having a HDD. I guess the one I should go with is the Pro model for that reason. Also, it would be nice if they include Wireless Network Adapter with the Pro model to help sweeten the deal. There's really no big difference between the Arcade and Pro models. Its the Elite that has the biggest advantage over the other 2, but like I said before I don't want to spend $400 on a game console. Especially, one that has a history of the dreaded 3 Rings of Death. I'd get a Playstation 3, but I just don't want to spend anymore than $350 including tax for a game console.

If you plan on going with surround sound, go with the Elite as that is the only console to include the adapter. Separately the adapter cost $50 with the HDMI cable.

              Big,
I think you should truthfully go with the arcade model... You can get it for 199.99. Then go on ebay if you have the means and get a hard drive 20g are dirt cheap or larger aren't a whole lot more. Then you can get the component cables if you have HD. Those run about 7 dollars or so or shipped. So for 230 bucks you can have a pretty decent setup..

              Altimus,
What is this Surround sound adapter you speak of??

                the arcade is $199.

it's supports the same exact features as the premium and elite. The accessories for the 360 can be had much cheaper than what MS charges for them. You can turn an arcade into an elite for less than buying an elite if you look on ebay.

Thanks for the advice. I will go to Gamestop 1st to buy the arcade model for $199.99 new. Then I'll rent Madden NFL 09 until my copy arrives in the mail. After that I'll buy a new 64MB Memory Unit, so that I can share my files. That would cost me about $30. Then I'll order a cheap NEW copy of Madden NFL 09 on ebay. That should run me about $30 with rush shipping. Then I'll order a new 60GB harddrive for about $70 on Ebay. Then I'll get a new Wireless Network Adapter for about $70 locally. That makes the grand total to be about $424.75. It might be cheaper just to buy a Playstation 3.

120 GB HDD's can be found for $70 on ebay. There's also far cheaper alternatives to the wireless internet adapter.

Ask BK what are the Wireless options... I don't know them but I won't need one when I get mine. But don't settle on the network adapter when you can probably build your own for cheap... BK?? What are some options

                            There's a few options.

The wireless adapter for the original xbox works fine, and it can be found for $50 off ebay or amazon.
                            http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-...pr_product_top

Also, you can can get a cheap wireless router and create a wireless bridge between it and the router from your PC. This method can cost as little as $20, but takes some know how or following directions to get running.

You can look around and find a 15% or 20% off electronics coupon code for Dell and get some really nice deals. That knocks a Pro system down to about 255 + tax.
