PS3 Problem???

Fellows my PS3 won't turn on, correction I am getting a blank screen. No dashboard, nothing. Anyone have this problem. Also I can't find my reciept. I bought it Jan of this year will they fix it for free if it's broken? Thanks

Hmm, it usually gives a yellow light when it's dead, but my first one had a power supply die on it. Try any other outlets or tv's?

Sony required a receipt to fix mine (it was a week old, no clue how I could have had it a year already...LOL) but they could have lightened up on that. Only way you'll know is calling Sony.

Is the light on the front of the system even coming on? Does the console beep at all?

Perhaps you don't have the correct video settings. Hold the button for 10 seconds on startup. (At least I think it was 10 seconds...)

That's what I was going to say. If you hold the power button down for 5 seconds or so (not exactly sure how long it is) the system is reset to default video settings and you should be able to view the xmb just fine.

Yeah, if the light is on on the front of the system, and it's beeping, I was going to suggest this as well. It definitely could be a quick-fix thing like this and not something that requires repair. For your sake, I hope it is indeed an easy fix.

Just talked to Sony. BAD NEWS!!!! without the receipt they told me they have to treat it as a out of warranty repair. $149 plus tax. I'm beyond pissed!!!!. Guess I'll be on my sons 360 for a while. I tried all the above suggestion and no success. Just what I get for not handling my business and putting my receipt away properly. Thanks for all the suggesstions guys. Can I use my PS3 profile on another PS3?

damn...sorry to hear about your PS3.

As far as how long it takes to get back, I've known guys that have gotten it back within a month's time.

Well if they have a good reputation(which I'm sure they do, if they can survive in a mall), it is worth a shot for sure. I wish we had a place like that around here...
