Does VGA display real 1080p or is it just HDMI that does it?

I was hoping to wait untill november and get a HDMI 360,selling my current one as I need a new hard drive and don't have anything with HDMI anymore so the cost of a new hard drive + selling the current 360 worked out to the same price as the Elite wich would cover the hard drive and give me HDMI.

Of course MS won't re-lisence my stuff though it was them that made me use the lisence transfer. I'm down to about 400 MB so I need that new hard drive now and would like to know if VGA can produce real 1080p?

Yes, it can do the 1920 x 1080 resolution.

HDMI would still be better b/c it's all digital. DVI is digital as well (only video)

VGA is gonna require switching from analog to digital at some point in the connection. Which I guess can vary in how much of an effect it plays.

But it's still better than upscaled component?

Yes. VGA allows for upscaling up to 1080p. BUT, it really depends on how good your VGA adapter/cables are. I got some cheap VGA cables for the 360 and the picture looked like crap compared to the Microsoft brand component cables.

480p is the highest upconversion using component cables. There are a few exceptions that are listed in the article below.

That's just about DVD,the 360 is my concern. It's still upscaled though? I meant native 1080p through VGA. I planned on getting the MS brand ones.

Yes, it should/would upscale to 1080p. Are there any 360 games that are 1080p though?

Massive improvement on DVDs,small to medium improvement on games.

The majority of 360 games upscale to 1080p. It's hard to tell which ones are really running native at 1080p.

I had the MS VGA adapter for a while. It was pretty nice. I honestly didn't have to run anything much over the 1024x768 and everything looked really nice at that.

Yeah, i was talking about native 1080p. I thought I read somewhere that there are a couple games that have parts that are 1080p, but none that are completely native 1080p. As it stands now, only HD-DVDs and blu rays are native 1080p media (that I'm aware of).

I dunno but they all support 1080p in some form anyway. Fable II seems to be the biggest improvement,it doesn't do that blurry thing when spinning the camera around anymore.

My Sony 1080p TV won't do it. At least when I tried a year or so ago. Maybe that has changed but I do remember Sony TV's wouldn't do it in the past.
