PS2 Slim Help Please

I have a question about my PS2 Slim. I bought it new 5 months ago in April 2009 and just recently played a blue disc on it. It loads and plays the disc fine but the console makes a whirling type noise like a fan going high speed or something. Is the blue disc harmful to the PS2 Slim? Thanks to anyone that knows for sure.

The blue bottomed discs are CD-ROM,iirc,and the silver ones are DVD-ROM.
I think it's just the disc drive spinning more to read the CD ones,which usually are older games.

Some slims won't read them at all.

all ps2's read blue discs louder. it's the disc read speed of cd-rom being much higher than dvd.

Yup, I have a fat ps2 and it gets much louder when I play High Heat 2004 which is a blue bottom disk.
