GameCube worth it?

Been thinking about picking up a used GC since they are only $30. Never played the system when it was out, but remember seeing some games for it that looked intriguing.

From what I remember:
Metroid Prime
Resident Evil
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (maybe Wind Waker, too?)
Super Mario Sunshine


So, what "must-have" GC titles are out there? No need to recommend sports games; I have a PS2 and 360 that covers all my needs there. Looking mostly for the top 1st-party games and good action/platforming games.

IMO its absolutely worth it. Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever. The Zelda games are also great. If you like Star Wars, the Rogue Squadron games are great too.

Eternal Darkness is a must own. Maybe the best game on the system.

How do the GC games look on an HDTV? Obviously, the quality isn't going to be great but I don't want the games looking terrible, either.

Too bad the MadCatz component cables I have don't have a GC plug. I use those cables for my 360 and PS2 and the PS2 games look decent on my HDTV.

Well do you have a wii? Cause all games are backward compatible

But if not. Yeh. Good games and for cheap im sure now.

Tales of Symhphona was fantastic.
And yes Eternal Darkness was probably my fav game on the cube. Trippiest game ever

No, I don't have a Wii and I'm not really interested in getting one, although the backwards-compatibility feature is nice. I just know if I got a Wii it'd probably collect dust or it'd just be used to play GC games, so figured it'd be better to spend $30 for a GC than $199-plus for a Wii.

Well, this is week to do it; GameStop has a 20% off coupon on used GC games (up to 3).

I think I'm going to trade in some old 360, GBA and PSP games and pick up a system and the following games: Metroid Prime; Rogue Squadron II and Eternal Darkness.

Any recommendations on S-cables to buy so I can hook up the GC to my TV? Also, what size memory card do I need to get?

I remember i got s cables for it and they didn't work at all for my hdtv. There was always some weird lines in the picture quality. I dunno about memory card either... Its been so long i forgot. Doesnt it do blocks?

Agree with everything said above. Animal Planet is a good one also.
Man there really are a good amount of good games for the system.
Pikman games are supposed to be fun also but I have yet try them.

You'll probably be fine with a 256 block memory card if you're not playing sports games. I suggest looking at the back of the cases and see how many each game that you're looking to get takes up, and see if 256 will be enough. If you're only getting those 3 games 256 should definitely be enough.

I know metroid prime 2 only takes up 3 blocks, so I'm guessing the first is the same but we don't have it anymore.

Everyone knocked it for the cell-shading, cartoony look. But that's what it makes it stand out and made it so great to me. They went out and did something completely different and the result was awesome. Just because the graphics weren't super realistic or whatever, people disliked it. If you're a true video game fan, you'll appreciate it.

Plus... it's Zelda! It's great!

I LOVED that game... I still have great memories sailing the seas to that awesome music. That's actually the last Zelda I beat. My buddy used to sit with me and we'd hook up the GameBoy Advance and he'd play along as the little fairy dude (can't remember his name now).
