October 14, 2009 - A Naughty Dog developer with the handle 'ReklissAbandon' replied to a post on the official PlayStation message board - which is now deleted - discussing enemy spectating in Uncharted 2, and accidentally confirmed cross-game voice chat in the next PlayStation 3 firmware update.
"I think [Naughty Dog] wanted people to have fun and enjoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway," he wrote.
"Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat," he wrote. "So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions."
This isn't a 100% confirmation, of course, but the fact it came from someone at Naughty Dog and that the post was eventually deleted, seems to be enough evidence something is up.
