After this going live, and seeing what is actually offered, I couldn't imagine subscribing. It was all very underwhelming.

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
Well, I bit the bullet. I'm downloading content as we speak.
Time will tell whether this all is worth it, but I think when they get some feedback they will include better deals overall. I mean technically we're getting more than we're paying for, but it may not necessarily be what we want either so we might as well get what we want for that same $50.
No matter, I'm glad I at least get WipEout HD for the time being.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
I bit on this and paid for 3 months of PSN+ Have to say that if it continues its current course I wont be renewing. The 60 minute demo is great, the PS1 and mini games are OK. Everything else available is free dlc. However I dont own anything that uses the dlc. If Sony is going to update this monthly then whats the point? If how they update the PSN store now is indication of whats instore for the future then they might aswell call PSN+ an experiment and fold up. I think they need to mimic XBL exactly, then paying for the service will be justified.Comment

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
I agree with you e0820, making this a gaming rental service is not what I am looking for in a paid subscription. It's cool to see titles like WipeOut HD being given for free per say, but it makes you wonder how many already own that. Why not give people an option of 2-3 titles to choose from for the month and the title they choose is the one they have rented? Then add on top of that the free DLC that is being given away which many may not own the titles. Or premium themes that have no interest to me.I bit on this and paid for 3 months of PSN+ Have to say that if it continues its current course I wont be renewing. They don't have to mimic XBL exactly, but there are things that XBL does so well that they need to find ways into incorporating. I will laugh if MS starts doing this game rental thing as a part of their gold service......where will that leave Sony at this point considering that MS has hundred's of titles on XBL.
I only did the 3 months to just check this out, if they don't add some better features after my 3 months I will not renew. A few things come to my mind......
1-Expanding their servers.
2-If #2 is achieved, then it can lead for faster downloads (not taking me to d/l a 1gb demo in 45 minutes on a 20mb d/l.
3-Cross Game Chat.
4-First party games have such an issue being played online, while 3rd party games work with no big issues.
5-Where are the avatars?
6-This 60 minute demo should not expire. If I want to come back and play the game, why not let me start all over again, but the game ends at 60 minutes?
7-Every single game and PSN title should have a demo moving forward. Now that there is a paid service it can take some of the load off of the bandwidth fees for them.
To me these are legitimate concerns and the extra fluff they are offloading with freebie rentals is not what their customer base is looking for in a paid service as the main features.Comment

What was it that they said about Plus subscribers being able to own LBP for free? How does that work?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
No more PSN+ for me after my 3 months is up until they improve the PSN service. I understand that PSN+ is more of a benefit for those that purchase a lot, but I have had enough of PSN in general. Last night I went to d/l a 900mb demo, it literally had the timer at 53 minutes and I currently have the system wired. I have a 20-24mb a sec connection on top of that.
I reset my router and restarted the PS3 and the same garbage when I logged back on to resume d/l. This is a shame if Sony will not put money towards a better infrastructure for their online component. I just gave up and turned on the 360 to d/l the demo.Comment

I am the same way gears. I tried downloading a demo on the PS3 and grew extremely tired of just how slow PSN is. I then turned on my 360 and had it completed before the PS3 reached 30% complete. No more PSN+ for me after my 3 months is up until they improve the PSN service. Yeah, I find I DL stuff faster on XBL. It's not just you guys...
Plus the PSN isn't as user friendly IMO. With XBL it's all tied into everything, it's pretty straightforward, etc...Just a much nicer user experienceNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
Phobia, kind of hilarious because I was on around 30% last night when I ended up turning on my 360. Within less than 5 minutes it had d/l on the 360. It's 2010, this is utterly ridiculous that these d/l's are taking this long.Comment
