Is Firefox headed to Playstation 3?

Playstation Insider's got a tipster (one that's reportedly "very close" to the company) telling them that Sony is in heavy talks with Mozilla to port Firefox to the PS3. The tipster didn't know if any actual deal had been struck, but it's not terribly surprising considering the PS3's current built-in browser is less than awesome. That said, Firefox has actually crashed twice on us in the last 15 minutes, and no, we're not making that up.

I never use my consoles for web browsing, but this sounds cool.

this would be pretty awesome. I just recently discovered firefox (been using IE) and I have to say, the internet has been much better ever since.

I've been using my PS3 for web browsing lately, and I'm going to install Linux on it as well. Looks like I may not have to if I get Firefox on the PS3 OS instead.

The only thing I know that my PS3 browser can't do is AIM, NBA League Pass, and ESPN360. Hopefully, firefox will be able to do all of those

Sometimes the laptop is in the other room, etc, and I want to check Facebook or OS and am too lazy to get up... that's when i use it

I love FF for my PC, but isn't it something of a memory hog? Seems like the regular PS3 browser runs out of memory all too easily - can't see that getting much better with FF.

So I take it this never happened since it's March 2010 and the PS3 web browser is still crap. I've actually found that installing Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 onto the PS3 is a piece of cake.
