So I got a Wii for XMas....

Yup. It's true. So I'm looking for recommendations. I know what I personally would like to give a shot (Zeldas, Metroids, Punch-Out) but I'd like some recommendations for fun party-type games, and a decent shooter (preferably Co-op, violence is a big plus!! Does Mad-World have any type of co-op?) I'm also heavily considering Mario Kart. So since I only played a Wii for the first time today, I'd appreciate it if you seasoned vets could tell me what a few of your faves are (regardless of genre) and why. Thanks, ladies and gentlemen.

I got a Wii for xmas also. Get Mario Kart. Its an awsome game and has some of the old tracks from the past games.

Thanks man. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the next one I'm picking up. I am a little behind, considering I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the 64, I know for a fact I've been missing out on my loved franchises like Zelda, but I never get a chance to play something solo like that anymore. So it's best to get something for everybody / a pick-up-and-play like Mario Kart. I'm asking about shooters because that's what the old man likes, but everytime I turn him on to something like CoD: MW2, he complains cuz he can't keep up, lol. I think maybe a Cabela's game might be more his speed, but I'm pretty confident they all suck ***. Guess that's a rental.We shall see.

Yeah this is also the first Nintendo since 64 for me too. They also have VC where you can play games from NES,SNES,N64 and SEGA if you didnt already know about that.

My Girlfriend got a Wii for Christmas, i'm watching her play Zelda right now (she used to love playing ocarina of time at her friends house when she was in high school). She also got Wii Fit plus and we played that with some friends last night; it was really fun competing for the highest scores in the balance games.

We were thinking about getting House of the dead: Overkill because that seems like a good zombie shooter that can be picked up and played quickly (Doesn't hurt that it's only $20 at Best buy)

Some other games on our wish list:
Mario Kart
Super Smash Bros Brawl
New Super Mario Bros

I bet playing tennis with 4 people would be really fun.

Any other good multi-player shooters you seasoned guys recomend?

Having owned a Wii for the past couple years, I'd definitely recommend Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports Resort.

I've been playing Super Mario Galaxy and it's a really cool extension and evolution of Mario 64. I've been digging the design of the game. Interesting little uses for the Wii Remote, fun levels and that can't beat Mario Universe feel.

I don't have a Wii but freqently considered getting one for Madworld,House of the Dead: Overkill and A Boy & his Blob so you might wanna check those out. I rather enjoyed ObsCure II on PS2 so might wanna give that one a try too. There's also that mountian game I can't remember the name of but was released in the last few months. Cursed Mountian?

I had a wii, had fun and sold it off. The first few months were great and fun, even with the fam. Months later it became a dust colector and was just bland at most. The newness of the Wii is great but be prepaird for it to wear off in time
