Anyway I've been trying to decide this for a LONG time now but I just havent seen that one thing to convince me one way or the other. I've broken in down into acouple of different categories to help me decide...Controller, exclusives, online, extra use, and multi-platform games.
Controller, I give this a tie leaning towards the 360. I've always been a PS2 person, but some games I prefer PS3 controller, and some games I prefer Xbox360 controller. Overall, I've gotten acustomed to the Xbox controller for all games.
Exclusives, again...a tie. There are some exclusives on both consoles that I like, there are about the same on each console, she I cant use this to decide. For the Xbox, the only guaranteed exclusives I'd get are the Grand Thef Auto exclusives, Left 4 Dead 2, and Fable. For PS3, Gran Turismo 5, Infamous...
Online, I give this a tie. Xbox Live is apparently better than PS3's online network, but I dont plan on playing online that much anyway.
Extra use, I give the edge to PS3 only because of all it can do. Will I use all its extra stuff? Probably not, but its nice to know that its there.
And Multi-platform, this is refering to games that come on both systems, which plays better? I've been hearing alot that games that play on both, play better on the Xbox. This is huge to me since most, but not all of the games I play come on both systems. I really need help with this category. Games that come on both may play better on Xbox now, but will they always? PS3 is more powerful, so I assume in the future games may play better on that console. PS3 is suffering from what Xbox suffered from when paired up against PS2 and that is although it more powerful than the 360, games are made first for 360, then ported over to PS3, never utilizing all its power.
The main type of games I'm interested in(for both consoles) are...
Madden
NCAA Football
Grand Theft Auto Series
Gran Turismo Series
First Peron Shooters
Racing games
Fighting games
Some RPGs
I see alot of people are recommending the PS3. What do you guys use your PS3 for? The PS3 can infact do alot of things besides play games, but I'm not so sure how much I'd be using these things. The only thing that intrigues me is how the PS3 uses blueray discs for their games, so in the future this *could* allow for large game files meaning for bigger, longer games that the Xbox360 wouldnt be able to hold because of the limited space of the DVD.
Also is there any point to even get one of these systems if one does not have a HDTV?
Here are the possible combinations I've broken it down to:
X360/PS3 regular cables connected to regular TV
X360/PS3 regular cables connected to HDTV
X360/PS3 HDMI cables connected to HDTV.
How different are each graphically? Thanks for the help. I really need to decide on this soon, as I plan on buying one within the next couple days before I spend the money elsewhere
