    PS3 MEDIA STREAMING

    Guys,
I downloaded Playon from to my CPU a few months ago but didn't work due to my laptop specs.. Now, I have a new computer and wireless N router and I'm smoking.. With that said I accidetally deleted the media server tab on the PS menu... So I got another play on trial to try it with my new setup, And the PS3 won't pick it up because I deleted it!!! Can anyone give me advice on what I could do?? I may have to restore the system???

Just go to Photos or Videos or Music at the PS3 dash, your stuff on your PC will be there.
Leave PS3 Media Server running, every time your PS3 powers on,you will have a connection.

          It's a great,simple and intuitive program,much better than Tversity for Xbox360.

Tim, make sure UPNP network discovery is enabled on your computer.
On Windows XP, it's a service called "SSDP Network Discovery", on Vista, it's just called "Network Discovery".

I on the other hand am completely lost on how to access all file types with PS3 Media Server. Nearly everything I try that's not my file (from the "Web" stuff) is corrupted, and I can't even access some of my files.

Basically, what I was looking to do was find a way to access YouTube videos and copy them to my PS3. I got really close with TVersity, but as I'm copying, some error occurs and the transfer terminates. Maybe it's not possible? I'm not sure.

So what all, besides accessing my PC files directly onto my PS3 (and even copying them over), can I do with this? I'm especially concerned with the "Web" folder, which shows things for YouTube, TV, etc. Is there a way I can get more things on there and actually accessing them, instead of having them say "The data is corrupted"? And there's even a Playlist section within the YouTube folder; how do I go about adding my own files to that playlist?

Thanks to whomever may be able to help.

Goto your Network Settings on the PS3 and make sure Media Server is enabled.

He literally has over 200GB of film from the past four years saved on his external hard drive from his digital camera. I've already copied over maybe 15GB of it, and the conversions take about an hour a GB. It's just way too much of a hassle. I'd prefer a way to copy them straight over, and for the PS3 to access the files to boot. I figured the PS3 Media Server would be my answer.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit here but would that include being able to play television programs recorded by a tuner card on the PC?

Yes....depending on what the file type is.
