Help with an Xbox 360 that has the E74 error

Ok, a few weeks back I got the E74 error. My internet/phone/cable went down the same day so I couldn't get into contact with MS to find out how to ship my system to them to be repaired.

Yesterday I got everything back on and today I logged onto the Xbox site to register my system for a repair. I filled out all the forms and everything, go to hit submit and I get an error message that says "We're sorry, we are unable to process your order at this time".

So I sent them an e-mail...

Hi. On January 4th my Xbox 360 console received the E74 error. I turned it on and had a red light in the bottom right corner of the ring of light/power button and the E74 error in multiple languages appear on my TV screen. I attempted to turn it on a few more times but still got the same thing. I also took it to a friend's house and tried using his AV cables on my system because I heard the E74 error could just be from bad AV cables. That didn't work either.

My internet went down the same day and I just got it back online yesterday. Today I registered my system on your site and requested a repair, only for your site to give me an error message when I tried to submit my form.

So I'm wondering, how am I supposed to get my faulty system repaired when I can't request a repair?
and it says I might have to wait 2 business days for a response. I'd rather not call MS support and be put on hold for hours on end or talk to some brain dead a-hole but I guess I might have to.

Anyone else have any past experiences with the E74 error and if so, what is the best case scenario I can hope for here? There is no way of manually fixing this BS myself, right?

I'd call the 4myxbox number. I just got off the phone and they are sending a label. Talk to them, not the computer.....

A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

Yeah as frustrating as talking to someone on the phone & waiting forever it's much better than the sterile non-communication you have going through the internet prompts.

Just got off the phone with them. It turns out that the form that I kept filling out and sending them was actually being sent even though when I went to submit it, an error page came up every time. When I spoke to the girl from support, she said I already sent multiple forms.

My ear hurts after that phone call. I had to press my phone up against my ear because the girl I spoke to could barely speak English and had a quiet voice. When I was giving her my serial number, 1 of the numbers was a zero and she kept asking me "Is that a Z or a 0?" but the serial numbers don't even have letters in them.

The whole process does sound pretty easy though. They send me 2 emails, 1 with instructions and 1 with the shipping label. I print out the shipping label, pack my Xbox in any box I can find around the house and send it off. Hopefully I don't have to go through this again because if money wasn't so tight, I would have already ditched MS for Sony. I think 1 more of these little breakdowns will seal the deal on that.

Yeah the lack of clear speaking employee's really pisses me off with Microsoft. I still don't understand wtf is up with that. They need an American office somewhere with better language employees.

Because with technical issues, there is a lot of lingo and also people who are calling in are very knowledgeable about the situation and the console.

And when the person that works for them IQ is less about the situation, it's even more frustrating. Telling you to try this and try this from the script they are to read is even more annoying.

They really need to get themselves together, because I think poor customer service is what really makes people already angry on top of the issues with the console.

Yeah, definitely. The girl asked me to turn my system on and off "just to make sure" and I told her I already turned the system off a handful of times, add to the fact it's been 3 weeks since I got the 1 red ring/E74 error so I think I already "made sure" a long time ago.

Another frustrating part was when she was going through the instructions of how to send them my Xbox. I could barely understand her because English obviously wasn't her first language and her quiet voice wasn't helping either.

But I'm sure there's been enough people that have gone through this same situation here on OS so I'll be able to make sure I'm doing everything properly to get my Xbox sent to MS.
