How Much Longer Can The PS2 Last?As the thread title says, obviously the current gen has been a round for a few years now, and the PS2 is really starting to step into it's stride, as it were. How long does everyone think the PS2 realistically has left, in terms of being actively developed-for, and retailed as a new console in shops? They still have a fairly large library, and have out lasted the Xbox and Gamecube.Last edited by Evan_OS; 02-27-2010, 11:09 PM.Tags: None

I think it has about two more years. I don't think you can look at the market and think that everyone has adopted PS3. With the PS2, 5 years down the line and no one gave a second thought about the PSone. Most had moved on to the PS2(especially when DVDs became the norm).PSN: xxplosive1984Originally posted by J. I'd say about 3 more years. I know people who think the PS3 is too expensive or don't have HD tvs and are still fine playing PS2.I think it has about two more years. Re: How Much Longer Can The PS2 Last?

This is what I was thinking. I haven't seen many, if any new games besides sports titles (Madden, MLB 2K10, MLB Show 10 , NBA Live 10, NBA 2K10 Etc.) The system still has a huge amount of games in Gamestops and other gaming stores. Even though they might be cheap, there are still a ton of games out there for the PS2.Comment

Yep. NCAA, Madden and The Show all still sell pretty well on the PS2, so I'd imagine they will continue to make games for the system for at least the next 2 years.

I just hope GameStop continues to keep its stores stocked with PS2 titles. It's nice being able to go through all the used games and find some old gems for $2-3 bucks.Currently Playing:
