    XBOX 360 Wireless Controller Question

Ok, so I bought my 360 couple of years ago. I've played with wired controllers since I've had it (Don't ask why). My brother had bought a 360 and sent it too me for free, and it had all the other stuff I could use. So I put the batteries in wireless controller and it didn't work. So I called him up and asked if you needed a port thing like on previous systems. He said "Nah, the batteries might just be dead." The 360 was bought just a couple of days ago by the way. Is there a port needed? Or does the 360 just detect it automatically?

You've got to sync it with the system by pressing the small button on the top of the controller, then hitting the small button on the 360.
