What about between the slim and the "fat" models? I would like to have a Slim, but looks like it'd be easier for me to find the fat one where I could afford it.

What's the difference?
In the new PS3 Slims? I know one is 250GB, and the other is 120GB... but are there any other differences between the two?

Only difference between the slim models is the HDD size.
Compared to the fats, they're generally quieter, run cooler, use less power, and of course have bigger HDDs.
Apart from the backwards-compatibility of the 60GB model, there's no advantage that I'm aware of having a fat model.
If you're talking about spending less than $299 for one, you're talking refurb, and I would think you could find a refurbed slim nowadays too for a similar price.

Go with the slim dude. I had a fatty and traded for the slim... It's a much better machine; runs quieter, cooler and looks fantastic. I'd go with the 120gb too. You can always put in your own HD if you really need more space.Comment

Slims are 10x faster. I downloaded the BC2 beta on my slim, took me 17 minutes. Downloaded it on the "fat" and it took 1 hr 30 min. Same connection and everything.Comment

Re: What's the difference?
I don't think that has anything to do with the system. I downloaded the GOW3 demo which is almost 3 GB in about 20 minutes, but I also downloaded demos like the NBA Live demo and it's much smaller in comparison, but it still took so long. I think it's just an on and off thing with download speeds for PS3.Comment

Mike, actually it does. I think they might have changed something with the wireless adapter, because when I had the Fat 60gb PS3 it was always at around 72% signal strength for wireless. It took forever to d/l things via wireless. I bought the slim a month ago and I have the system running via wireless with 100% signal strength. Downloading games from the store takes much less time for me now than it did via the Fat PS3. There has to be some kind of difference.I don't think that has anything to do with the system. Same here George. My slim's wireless is WAY faster. Demos, updates, etc, probably dl at least twice as fast for me as they did with my old fat PS3.Mike, actually it does. Are there any places where you can trade in a fat for a slim for a relatively good price? I'm thinking Gamestop must be overpriced as usual.Comment

I'm flip flopping again... The grown up side of me is telling me that I don't play games anymore, and that the cash looks good in the account. My wife is telling me that I need "something" to play... Right now, I'm just waiting it out. See how I feel in the morning. That deal will probalby be gone tomorrow though.

Knowing how you haven't been interested in games for awhile, and no exclusives for either side have you excited, I would say take the cash.I'm flip flopping again... PS3 Slim for $200.
But then you always come back eventually, so that's a tough one. I know how you feel though, sports games do nothing for me anymore (except Madden and NCAA), so I mainly play other games anymore.Comment

Heading to pick up a nice slim 120GB system.
