I usually play games in spurts, and now I have UFC 2010 saved to the HD and it makes a huge difference, however when I had Madden 10 saved I didn't notice a difference.

I have about 7 games and they are installed to the Hdd. Would do any other way.

Saving games to the hard drive makes a difference in games where there are a lot of cut scenes and stuff of the like. But other then that, it does keep your 360 a hell of a lot cooler and quieter because there is no disc spinning.

I install every game I routinely play to the hard drive. usually faster load times, less noise, and less heat for the system.

The disc needs to be in the system to play right?

Yes now it does, in the beginning it didn't but when microsoft found out people were renting games and installing the games to play them instead of buying them, they updated the system to now the system will look for the disc before it loads off the hard drive.

It always needed the disc in the tray. When installing games to the HDD was announced, that was the first thing people mentioned was "so we can play without a disc now?". But when the dashboard update came out, you needed the disc in the tray. The hype surrounding the possibility of not needing a disc may have confused you with it actually being true.
