Note that if you have HD on the account either way, it won't cost you any more other than an upfront upgrade fee (and that could get waived depending on a number of things, can't hurt to ask) to also have one for downstairs.

Biggest caveat about any receiver that's potentially not used though is you might be asked to return it if you deactivate the thing for 9 months.

As for connecting the Xbox, you have a Slim, and a HDTV, i'd get an HDMI cable to connect them, or am I missing something?

Mestevo, that's a great idea for the xbox, thanks.

Thank you my friend, 2 hrs on the phone with Directv and on Jan 6th, we will have a hd dvr upstairs and hd receiver downstairs, plus, they need to replace the old dish.

Thanks to you, the 360 is up and running. Our daughter has netflix, so, that helps out.

          Negotiating is so much fun.

Or can I just get a new adapter?
Well... is it worth it for you to buy a new one?

That's the only place I looked so I am not sure how much they are at Wal Mart.

You can get the power bricks, just make sure you get the right wattage for what your xbox needs.
