Plus, aren't Sony and Google in league with each other? I think that would be defined as "going rogue" for Sony.

Sony's current market cap is $34 billion, so $51 billion is more than enough.

The thing is that they do have enough cash to buy Sony, it just makes no sense to do so.

Sony is a huge company with a different corporate culture and probably more employees than Apple. It would be a nightmare to integrate the companies together, and Sony's products are low margin while Apple does many of them better anyways. Sony does have some appealing parts, like their record label, but why buy the whole company?

Apple has never bought a huge established company anyways. They buy smaller companies with ideas or valuable tech, which gave them multitouch or the ability to make processors in house. Pointless speculation is all this is.

Most of their value is in being a multiplatform developer/publisher. Buying them to support Apple products would cause EA to lose valuable licenses, publishing deals, and make their large scale distribution infrastructure pointless. They are also geared towards big budget multiplatform development, meaning many talented people, years of experience, and IP's would become useless.

What would Apple actually get from buying EA then? Apple already gets a cut of the sales from the games on their app store.

Theres ways around that. However why would apple want sony? Sony has so much on its plate and apple's success is doin a few things really well.

EA has been "for sale" with Apple, MSFT, Nintendo, Sony, etc all rumored to buy them for how long now? I can count since the PS2 and original Xbox days.
