You don't always have to be so defensive to everything Sony PlayStation, people are allowed to have other opinions.
    Here we go...

I am not being defensive, would say the same about iPhone, 3DS, Zune, whatever the hell else you wanna throw at it for "products"... I gave my opinion and provided alternatives like anything else.

I have no brand loyalty.. I buy anything that is "neat" or "cool" or best bang for the buck.

We see "battery" complaints all the time. It has been this way for most products that are power hungry the last 5 years. People should expect this. And thus if you wont sit there for 3 hours at a time on a phone, I expect people not to sit there for 3 straight hours on a hand held either. Same difference.

As things get more and more powerful, power will always be the issue. It is not as simple as slapping a higher capacity battery in there, because A) cost, B) they run way hotter, and C) higher capacity batteries tend to have a lower shelf life then lower capacity ones, and are much larger so the form factor is an issue.

My comments have nothing to do with "Playstaion brand".

But to tell me I "need a new phone" when logic is simple...

That 3-5 hour stat is "constant use" ... "stand by" with random play, like you would your phone, it will last just as long if not longer than most smart phones.

In closing, the battery life issue I was responding to the article writers complaint. As if he lives in a land of make believe, in which power hungry products seem to last so much longer than what appears to be in line with everything else on the market. The poster did not even comment on it, other than to say I needed a new phone, when I used it as comparison. In which I again, compared use for use.

Seriously tho, with all the features on this thing, battery life isn't going to be as good as even a powerful smartphone. Considering the size of that screen, the processing power and the radios (plural), if they equipped it with a "sufficient" battery, I don't think it would be considered portable anymore (or cheap for that matter). Battery technology is just now starting to catch up, just look at the electric car industry.

I can use this emoticon too.

I can go and show you your Sony bias. But I am not going to get into it here. It's getting old. No need to be so defensive.

Don't worry, I won't judge you. Especially through internet posts, and perception shaped comprehension. Plus you have the coolest name is sports. I know, a bit bias there.

Personally there should be no issue if you think there is a "bias" or not... since even if for the sake of argument there was, it is every bit my opinion as well. I am not breaking any TOS by having my opinion opposite if negativity. We are a sports gaming community, sports are made up of bias. Not one person on this forum can claim they are 100% objective about everything in life. But that is my opinion on the matter. No defensive attitude at all. Trust.

Anyhow... it was due time for Sony to take their proprietary route for memory solutions (not that I agree with it, but I am sure there will be cheaper third party solutions). I think it was a way to combat home-brew, until someone makes a card reader for the PC that is.

The battery life is OK though of course, because like the lack of internal storage, Sony is going to sell you more. IGN says they're going to offer an external battery.

Or just buy a much cheaper third party solution, and not overpay for a Sony one. Just as with the iPhone, Androids, Labtops, Tablets and 3DS.

Sony: The PlayStation Vita Is Region-Free

We're one step closer to world peace and universal harmony, thanks to Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss and recent Tokyo Game Show keynoter Shuhei Yoshida. Asked if Sony's new PlayStation Vita handheld would be region-free and capable of playing software from any region, Shuhei said "Yes."

Well, that about clears that up. Yoshida would know, what with the fact that he's near the top of the game development food chain at Sony.

That means you can feel a little bit better about your Japanese import pre-order for the PlayStation Vita, content in the knowledge that, like the PSP and PlayStation 3, you'll have a portable that's capable of playing the weirdest of Japanese video games and Call of Duty.

Sony said today that downloads via 3G will be limited to 20mb, you'll have to connect to wifi to get anything larger.

This mirrors what Apple and Google does for some apps in their markets.

Which makes sense, it makes sure you do not get data corruption, and it clogs the slow as heck 3G network. And also a regulation I am sure 3G providers ask for from companies.

95% of the DLs I do on the iPhone are on the WiFi anyhow.

                      Thanks for the heads up!

Which begs the question. Why would anyone buy the 3G version? I'm not trying to be snarky, I just don't understand the market for it.

Multiplayer, web browsing, cloud saving, video chatting, etc. You just aren't going to be downloading off PSN over 3G.

Final PS Vita Box Design for Europe. Launch Apps, Too.

When Sony detailed the PS Vita launch apps for Japan, the questions was how many of those would be available in the West. Well, how many?

The launch app for Europe include Welcome Park (PS Vita tutorial), Party (text and voice chat), PlayStation Store (shopping), Group Messaging (messaging), Photos (well, photos), Near (location-based gaming network), Trophies (track your stats), Music (dur), Friends (buddy list), and Internet Browser (surf the tubes).

The apps are the same as what Sony Japan showed available out-of-the-box at launch. And speaking of boxes, Europe's PS Vita box looks like Japan's.

Japan could be getting more apps at launch. During its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference, Sony revealed that downloadable apps will launch when the PS Vita goes on sale in Japan. Sony even included these titles in the 26 launch games for the Vita.

No word whether Japanese apps like video app Nico Nico Douga or calendar app Yuusha no Kiroku will make the jump outside of Japan. Nico Nico Douga is largely a Japan-only video service, so the chances of that getting a worldwide release are slim.

A localized version of Yuusha no Kiroku would make sense as a Western release.

Kotaku is following up with Sony regarding a Western release for the Nico Nico Douga and Yuusha no Kiroku apps.

Here’s How You Challenge Nearby PS Vita Owners and Play Co-Op

                              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ADjMPGOAPhA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Near is the PS Vita's social feature that scans the area for PS Vita brethern.

Sony's detailed Near at Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, but with so many Vita features, it might have gotten lost in the shuffle. It's a neat feature, and it's worth teasing out.

To use Near, press the Update button. Your Vita will search for players nearby, and once it's found them, you can challenge them or even play co-op. Concept trailers like this have hinted at features like the ability to send and receive new levels via Near as well as unlock items.

Concept trailers have also shown how Near can be used to view other people's trophies, stats, and trophies. That way you can see if it's wise to challenge that dude on the bus or not.

I'm still "meh" on the entire thing. Sony's handheld has been 2nd rate for a while now and as awesome as this is, I'm not sure if I'm going to carry it around just to play The Show.
