    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

They really just don't get it with this system. Make it $199, and cut those memory card prices in half. Then units will sell. The 3DS showed EXACTLY what would happen with pricing, and it's like Sony missed the entire thing.

3DS at $259 = lower than expected sales. 3DS at $170 = sales blew up.

It's not that ****ing hard to understand.

We'll be lucky to see this thing on shelves for another year at his rate.

Yeah, it's really not a complicated solution to Sony's problem; do excatly what is outlined above and you'll see sales increase.

I personally don't blame Sony for sticking to their guns, as far as the hardware goes. It is definitely worth $250 for what you get.

Memory card prices probably need some relief, since they went proprietary.

Then again, this is coming from a guy who's purchased 2 Vitas, and sells thimble-sized devices for $500 a pop.

Sony only suffers because they always do this to themselves..they overprice everything they make.

I'm not going to be their free advertising piece...do it yourself

It's not really a matter of "if it's worth the money". Clearly the general public would be buying these if they felt the same way. Sticking to your guns works for Apple, who could sell a stone for $300 if they called it an iRock, but Sony doesnt have that luxury.

If they want this system in more hands, then put it at a price that more people would be willing to make that happen.

People don't want this system for $250, and developers won't support it until the gaming community (and beyond) does. It's that simple.

I've been close to selling my Vita numerous times now. I just don't want to give up on the thing.

I agree Jason, this friend marketing campaign deal is a little too late imo. The handheld is a month away from being a year old in the US and was released in Japan a year ago last month. I am not too sure at this point if a price drop comes in the Fall if they can save this device. The problem here besides the price, there isn't any compelling releases slated for the rest of the year after The Show and Soul Sacrifice to really excite people. Sony is making the same mistake that Nintendo made with the Wii U, except Nintendo is fixing theirs with these Nintendo Directs.

                    Advertising is half the problem.

You and I both know that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a great game, even a good game to some.

The problem is that some people don't even know what kind of game it is! Seriously, look at this commercial...

I wouldn't even know where to begin with that commercial, and I certainly wouldn't be interested in finding out what the hell that was advertising if I didn't already know.

                    They have to do better.

This commercial doesn't do the game any justice at all. Sony has become their own worst enemy this generation. Another problem with PSABR is that there is no demo for people to try out the game. This game is supposed to be fan service and has all your iconic characters in a SSB style game that they are not taking advantage of at all. I hated the game during the beta, but really fell in love with the retail release.

Like I've told Jason and Brett, I'm giving this thing till E3 this year to see if anything gets announced for it. If Sony does a half *** effort at the E3 presser with the Vita, the best handheld ever will pretty much be a dead one by end of 2013.

Here's another commerical for a Vita game that really annoyed me. I mean, really, who acts like this when they play videogames? They did at least show some game footage (although those Bears away unis are bad), but still, you see that commercial and it doesn't really entice me to buy a Vita, or any videogame in general.

Lol. I actually kind of like the Madden commercial, mainly just because it makes me laugh. I agree with what you're saying though; nothing about it makes me feel like I need a Vita. Same with those awfuld Black Ops: Declassified commercials.

And let's not even talk about those Battle Royal commercials... one of the worst advertising campaigns if all time. Just completely stupid and pointless.

MLB The Show's commercial was very misleading, too. It gave the impression you could continue mid-game saves from the PS3 on your Vita, and if I remember correctly, also showed the guy swiping the front screen to swing the bat.

Yup. It would state that you could "start you gaming at home and continue it on the road" which definitely implies that you can save midway and continue on the Vita.

Hell, the first patch or two actually broke that feature for a while... It was just a mess. And that says something (negatively) about the system as well when one of the PS3's best developers doesn't even support the Vita version of their game post-launch.
