Has the wifi connection improved on the psvita slim? The reason why I am asking is that remote play on my 1st gen vita is pretty bad for me. I have great internet speeds in my house and have my PS4 wired but remote play, especially with the show, is not playable for me since my timing is way off due to lag. Also, I get tons of artifacts on my vita and stuttering on occasion when doing remote play. I twaeked settings on my router such as changing channels and updating to the newest firmware on my router and nothing seems to help. I also tried direct connect with my ps4 and it was still bad. Maybe there isnt much I can do with regards to remote play and the show but am just wondering if the new vita helps with lag.

Also, ive used remote play to play ACIV and other games such as NBA 2k14 and infamous and they were playable since timing was not as crucial as it is for a game like baseball. Its just noticeable since baseball requires great timing.

        Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

Guys. I've been loving the Vita and I've had it for about 2 years. I used it for remote play with the PS4 since I got the PS4 in November. No real issues. After the upgrade to 3.15 on the Vita and 1.70 on the PS4, I now have a lot of connection issues that I never experienced before. It get's extra laggy, pixelated and the little icon appears often.

This happens even at the main PS4 GUI screen. The night I was trying to download The Show PS4 version, I was remoting into my PS4 to try to start the download and it just kept losing connection at the main interface. It was awful.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of inconsistency? Especially since the upgrade of the bios?

        Thanks.

          Random thoughts:

-My Vita slipped out of my hands while playing MLB 14 The Show and caused the game to crash. I was pretty bummed as I was having a good game. Thankfully, no damage was caused to the system and after re-inserting the game card, I was good to go.

-I'd really like to see a WWE Network app available for the Vita. This would be great for me with all of my travel for work. Having Netflix and YouTube is great, but the WWE Network would put things over the top.

They really need to update the Netflix app, though. I share an account with my sister, and without Profiles, the application is worthless to me.

Yes! I went from playing remote pay perfectly in my living room (ps4 is in the office upstairs) to updating and getting lag and disconnects all the time.

              Super frustrating.

Are you using the direct connect or your home wireless network to connect? I was using the direct connect and it was fine until the update. I have since tested using my home network and it seems to be about the same. I am backing up my Vita and doing a factory reset as I read somewhere on one of the Sony Forums that this fixed the problem for some guys. However, they were having this issue before the updated bios so who knows if it will help or not.

All I know is now I have a hard time laying in bed at night and remote playing anything and I am only 15-18 ft above the PS4 on the next floor. It worked almost flawlessly prior to the firmware update too....so I don't think I am too far.

So that helps to increase the likeliness that the issue is on the Vita side and not the PS4 side. If it was a PS4 "built-in" wireless issue, you would think the problem would go away when on your local wifi. For me the problem exists in both realms so I am going to guess that it's related to the PSvita. I have backed mine up and restored it to factory specs. I reloaded my apps and I will test when I get home tonight (did this at the office!). I hope for good results but I am not expecting them. Who knows???

                      Thanks.

Does the PSvita slim pick up both the 2Ghz band as well as the 5GHz band? My router supports both and my 2GHz band is overcrowded.

Well after restoring the Vita to factory specs....I have had no luck. In the same room......7-8 feet from the PS4, the remote play feature is responding terribly. It drops frames, stutters, loses sync, all of it. I reconfigured to connect to my home's wifi and it does the same thing. The wireless is within 6-7 feet also. I am at a bit of a loss here. This thing worked great before the firmware update. Something is wrong and for me....remote play has become completely useless now. I do not see any others on the web reporting these problems. I hope I can figure it out. Half the reason I kept Vita was for remote play. Bummer.

Would that mean the slim is better for remote play? Not a tech guy sorry if it's a stupid question.

Well for me, I live in an apartment and the 2.4ghz band is overly congested while the 5ghz band is pretty much wide open for me. I have my Ipad using the 5ghz band and it is really quick and has no latency at all. Was hoping that if the vita supports the 5ghz band, it would help improve remote play when it comes to the show.
