Hope this inches the streaming tech towards being included in other apps/products

I still need to finish Trails of Cold Steel, and there's still that game's sequel plus Zero Time Dilemma (which I would much rather play on Vita than 3DS) that I'm interested in. Maybe the new Danganronpa too, if it comes to Vita, though that's quite a ways off.

So, not permanently shelved yet but it is seeing periods of non use now that the PS4. Localizations remain the only reason I still own one.

I ordered a set of trigger grips that fit the original Vita from Play-Asia, based on Brett's recommendation.

Problem is, I ordered them six weeks ago and they still haven't shown up. They shipped about three weeks ago, and they're like sitting in a warehouse somewhere apparently or something.

I was very disappointed with the original trigger grips that stores sold, so I'm hoping these are much better. If not, it is what it is, but I hope I can get all of my money back if so.

This is why I hate ordering online, but this case is not normally how it is as far as how long I've had to wait.

^ That's why I go almost exclusively through Amazon. Those triggers you got, I purchased through Amazon and received in three days.

So I've read alot of impressions in here, On the fence about picking up my first Vita. I think it would be sick to play the show with earbuds on, and remote play sounds awesome.

Few questions, can i download apps like hbo go mlb at bat, etc.. I assume you can, seeing as PlayStation store is there.

My other question is how's the video quality for watching movies or a baseball game on this?

                Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

Let me try to square some things away from you in order:

Have you seen The Show on Vita? Like, gameplay video or anything else? If you don't, I have a YouTube video showing it (alongside playing it via Remote Play). Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEWYfHMZDhM

Anyway, The Show on Vita is largely unimpressive compared to the PS4 version. I think that much is obvious, although it is still The Show, so it's still fun. The one problem though is they don't have an MLB 16 version of it, so you can't take your franchise on the go anymore unless you play the '15 version only (and eventually they will shut off those servers, if they haven't done so already). But if you play the Vita version with earbuds on, you will be very dissatisfied with the compressed audio quality, even of Vasgersian's voice. Remote play could be your only satisfactory option here to carry a franchise/My Player with.

The Vita does not have HBO GO, but it does have MLB.TV and Netflix (those are the only two that I know of for sure). I think MLB.TV is the only media app you are allowed to stream to your PS4 using remote play as well. The video quality is drop dead gorgeous! The only thing I can't answer for you at this point is whether it does 60 FPS, because it seems to vary weekly based on the updates (they change the thing so many times) and I haven't watched MLB.TV on my Vita in quite some time now... though once I hit the road I'll be watching it on there again. I do know however that if you are streaming your PS4 via remote play and (that one is capable of hitting 60 FPS for sure), then you'll be able to watch it with 60 FPS that way!

I think I just answered the "watching baseball" question with that. Watching movies via Netflix and such is really good on the OLED screen, but I think the newer Vita versions have an LCD screen so I can't speak on that one. The only issue is the black levels aren't the absolute best they can be, and because I have a screen protector on it I think I'm not getting the best shadow detail out of my black levels that I can. Otherwise, it's really good! I was even able to use my PS4 as a media server, then proceed to watch an MKV of Interstellar on my Vita, and that streamed wonderfully! But again, no HBO GO on the Vita. The PlayStation Store specifies whether the item you are "buying" is for PS4, PS3, or Vita... and I don't think HBO GO has a Vita option. I may be wrong on this though.

But I hope you know that Sony doesn't support the Vita anymore. Hopefully there are bargain prices for the Vita around, because these days getting it for $200 just ain't flippin' the bill anymore.

EDIT: Just downloaded HBO GO on PS4 and confirmed that you cannot stream it via Vita remote play.

                  Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

Yes, I'm aware Sony isn't supporting it anymore. That's a bummer, but I think there's still more then enough games to keep me interested.

I would probably pick up mlb 14, seeing as 15 doesn't have walkups and such. Hopefully there's still a roster vault up.
So mlb tv works well on it? That's a big plus.

Hmm. I'm definitely leaning towards one, I won't pay over 150 though, I live uncharted too, and I've never played the Vita version. I'm aware the Vita doesn't boast PS4 quality visuals. But they look pretty damn close to early PS3 visuals thats' pretty impressive.

Is there anything else special about the Vita?

                    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

I never played the Vita version, though I do own it. Pretty silly of me not to. I think the touch screen controls turned me off a bit, thinking it was like more of an "Uncharted Lite Mobile" than anything else. That is unfair for me to say, though. I'm sure after I finish UC4 I will give it a fair shake.

There are many special things about the Vita, but its golden ticket for me has been Remote Play. My favorite games on the Vita outside of The Show have been:

                    - Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
                    - Zen Pinball 2
                    - LittleBigPlanet (best LBP game by far)
                    - Killzone Mercenary (multiplayer)
                    - Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
                    - ModNation Racers

There are many other great ones that took up much of my time, but these were the show stealers for me for sure.

I thought the Netflix app was pulled some time ago due to API changes and them not wanting to continue to support it. Am I thinking of another app or is it web based now?

Uncharted Golden Abyss was definitely "Uncharted lite", mobile might be a bit unfair but it really isn't a full fledged affair. It's fun and entertaining, but forgettable (I literally can't remember the story right now). If you have a Vita, and like Uncharted, there's no reason not to play through Golden Abyss, but it's definitely not a must play and not worth buying a Vita for.

Edit: Netflix is still available, you thinking of the Youtube app perhaps?

Shucks, you might be right. I haven't tried it in quite some time. That would be too bad if true, I really liked using it.
