another question, why do the videos I have seen show Near with a range of ten miles but I only have 1 and 2 mile rings on my screen?

I think it's that Near displays the 10 closest people to you, so the range on the radar is set appropriately.

Watch out for the Power Shot penalty. I didn't know that is what +2 meant for Power shot. I thought it meant I got 2 extra power shots.

I was at +10 in this round before I realized it. Duh!

I did manage to get back to +3

I did the same freaking thing! Did it twice to myself. I also thought it just meant to extra uses or 2 extra points towards the power. After doing it and then seeing what the heck was happening I learned my lesson.

Really really wish we could set up our own rounds and play each other. Hopefully soon.

I know, I had the 9 on one hole and I was sitting there trying to remember my shots ( I did hit one OB, because of power shot). I think it was the next hole that I realized what was going on.


Can you invite friends while playing? I have never looked into it but it would be fun. What sucks though is that you can't see the other players shots, that is part of the fun.

I've heard the graphics are grainy on HSG. They were on the demo, but does the retail version look better? Judging by the screen you posted, I can't see a grainy look at all. Looks good to me! I'm still on the fence with the Vita, but I'm fading fast. LOL. Today might be the day.

I had the same complaint in this thread about a week ago after I played HS at Best Buy. I thought it looked like crap.

You won't be disappointed. Its not PS3 graphics (although, sometimes I think they are) but they are pretty darn good.

My complaint was the shimmering grass in the demo, that isn't really in the retail version. It might be a very little bit but its not going to bother you.

I am a graphics whore and I have no complaints.

I'll probably only use this thing in short bursts or at lunch at work.

Question: Will I be able to play one or two holes in HSG, pause/save it and come back to it later? Or do I have to play a full round before saving?

Blzer, you can go back with your receipts and get this. For me, since I paid with gift cards and reward certificates, I won't get anything. I hate how they do that with gift cards. ARGH!!!!!

EDIT: I take that back, I logged in now and I did get 90 points......so I'll go in and triple that.

Yeah I pause mine all the time and put it in standby and it is always waiting for me when I come back. It's like that when your battery dies on you too!

I just watched the IGN review of the game. They mentioned unlocking tourneys in the game. Before I unlock a tourney I have to beat the previous one. Is there a point in the game where I have to shoot an ungodly -19 or something along those lines to progress?

I'm looking at the Vita as a sports gaming thing. I know HSG is little arcadey, but I want a good game of golf. Unlike the IGN reviewer, I don't mind taking my time to set up a shot.

Well, Amazon credited my account 19 dollars yesterday for buying a memory card and an additional 20 today. That's enough to get a free game. The question is... what game? I think it'd be better to have a second game alongside hotshots for my week out of town.

Fifa could be cool, but I'd much rather have a 2K, NHL, NCAA or even Madden. Soccer and baseball would be last on my list, but maybe FIFA can hold me over as my sports title until 2K is hopefully announced.

UGA sounds good but the re-playability seems low for a 50 dollar title.

I could also buy Rayman or Lumines and tell the guy at the mom and pop store that I only want one of them. Decisions.

As I mentioned, I bought Hot Shots and then Lumines. I'm leaving for a week long trip tomorrow. I checked the mail today and got a birthday gift from my sister and brother-in-law.

Well I just called the mom and pop store, and they won't be able to get Rayman: Origins for me, which means I'm exchanging Marvel vs. Capcom for it. So every game I was remotely interested in I now have for this trip.

Safe to say I'm set for a lonnnng time!

Yeah, I did this during my marathon game of Lumines. I unlocked all but 5 skins on my first play through ever. Needless to say this was a game that spanned two days and involved many breaks, and even a recharge.

I've spent a little over an hour with this thing and yeah, I'm in love.

I only have Uncharted right now. Will probably pick up HotShots Golf when I finish UC and of course the Show in 10 days.
