    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

New Vita announced, built in 1gb storage, thinner, lighter, an hour longer battery. 64gb memory card announced too. Preorders now-ish, available in October.

Still a developing story. Japan only so far, hopefully western love soon-ish too.

Also uses microusb to charge and it's a little bit cheaper than the regular vita. It uses an LCD screen instead of OLED, so it doesnt invalidate the current model.

With the micro USB, I wonder if we can now use an adapter to HDMI and plug it into a television for a bigger display, or HD-PVR to capture footage.

Interesting device that I feel like ill inevitably own at the impulse-buy price, but feels like they just gave a bunch of people a reason not to get a Vita.

The Sixth Axis says Sony told them:

                  - There will be a system software update to patch in DualShock 4 support.
                  - It can connect to other PS Vitas via ad hoc mode.
                  - Two DualShock 3 controllers can be paired to the system, allowing for playing PS1 titles.
                  - PS Vita can be used as a controller for some Wii U like functionality.
                  - Will support “nasne”, a networked recorder and media storage device.

The west doesn't have a nasne equivalent, but maybe there's hope yet for some sort of hdd support?

                  Edit:
Also, since it's not compatible with all Vita games, here's the compatibility list:

Nice. Already have a vita but am tempted to jump on the 64GB memory card though.

Somebody's going to have to explain Vita TV to me a little bit more, because I don't see where the Vita is actually being used.

Sony is doing some amazing things right now though!

VitaTV is like if a Vita had sexy time with an Ouya. So it's a home console version of a Vita.

I'm sure a lot of the compatibility list is games not using touchscreens.

But you insert your Vita memory card then, right?

Just making sure. It's an interesting decision if you don't want a PS3. It's even more interesting because I'm guessing the majority of games run at a 960x544 resolution, so upscaling to 1368x768 or 1920x1080 won't exactly be beautiful.

This is my biggest reservation with it, videos and screenshots on PSN of Vita when viewing from a PS3 are awful, putting it nicely.

Basically a remote client for a PS4 with perks.

Really hope they nail remote play.
