Razer Onza - new Xbox 360 controller

This looks great, wonder when it will ever come out though. Does anyone know?

Re: Razer Onza - new Xbox 360 controller

Oh and 10 reasons why it's better than Microsofts upcoming new controller (the one with the enhanced digital pad)

    1. The Razer Onza is $49.99. The MS Xbox controller is $65. ‘Nuff said.

    2. The Razer Onza’s analog control sticks are resistance adjustable (and extra concave!) while the MS is only…concave..ish.

    3. The Razer Onza has 2 Extra Multi-function buttons to pwn with and fully programmable too. No aimbot or rapid-fire though, sorry noobs, this part you’ll have to do yourself.

    4. The Razer Onza’s buttons are uber clicky. (harder, better, faster, stronger – sorry Daft Punk). Clicking the MS controller is still like clicking mashed potatoes.

    5. The Razer Onza’s uber-ergonomic (can you say ubernomic?) trigger design – now with new improved wider, more concave curves! Gets rid of all stains too (actually, no it doesn’t).

    6. The smell of smokin’ rubber – the surface of the Razer Onza is rubberized. None of that plasticky ****ty feeling.

    7. The Razer Onza D-Pad is already optimized. None of that schizo shifting crap like the MS controller.

    8. It gets you laid. Not really. It just looks awesome like any Razer design. So awesome it’s almost illegal. No wait, it is according to the MLG – see #8.5.

8.5. It’s so good it’s been banned by the MLG even before it’s released. Go figure. If you’re one of the 12045032 gamers that aren’t in the MLG, time for you to get one.

    9. It’s not a Microsoft.

    10. It’s a Razer.

It certainly looks cool, but for me there's one very big reason I wouldn't buy this (if I had a 360):

Cords are a no-no. I think we've moved past those. All controllers should be wireless now.

Yeah I just now noticed that. I can't get a cord with two dogs running around the house. Darn. This looked fantastic too.

Been waiting for this controller ever since it was reviewed in GameInformer. Still no word on release that I've seen...

MS doesn't allow wireless 3rd party controllers.

I saw this when looking for a controller with a better d-pad. Looked cool until I saw the cord.

If Microsoft were a kid on a playground, it would get it's a** kicked constantly.

I'm at the point where I'm going to try to "Pringles" mod, because playing fight games with the 360's d-pad is just brutal.

I know MS has that new controller coming out with the twisting d-pad, but the only information I could find regarding that controller's d-pad is a little bit of improvement.

Sony does allow it, I know Mad Catz and a few others make wireless controllers for the PS3.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I saw this from the main forum and thought there was FINALLY a release date.

I need a new wired controller (screw buying batteries all the time + usable with PC) and in January this was supposed to be in April, then in April it'd be June, then in June it was "Before Halo: Reach" and after Halo: Reach it was October and now it's "Holiday 2010" so Rememberance Day or Xmas.

Thinking of just getting this one instead...

I just did this mod and it actually works. Playing dojo mode in Virtua Fighter where you can see the inputs on screen, I was able to consistently get the right input without any error. Whereas before the mod one fraction in the wrong direction and I'd get the wrong input.

Limited test time so far, but it was noticeably better already.

The mod inserts a plastic washer (made from a Pringles lid) between the d-pad and the contacts so that the d-pad doesn't have to travel as far to hit the contacts. Pretty easy to do too. Hardest part was finding a torx T8 security screw driver to open the controller.

So in your face, toilet face... Microsoft...

That is definitely a nice looking controller. Damn shame about the cord.

I got super hyped about the controller until I saw the cord too. It's just not feasible with my current setup.

I use a wired controller actually just because I hate charging batteries and/or buying the plug-in kit thingy. Might grab one of these, looks slick.

                              Just get this:

Leave it on there when you're not using it and you'll never have to worry about plug n play or wires again
