Xbox controller question

I have 2 questions...1: can you change which controller is player 1, player 2, etc... like you can on PS3? and 2: when a controller isnt being used for a long time lets say months at a time, is it okay to leave the rechargeable battery in the controller or should it be taken out?

On 360 which ever controller you start first would be #1

There is no option to assign

I have left the batter for a long time and it does not get damaged

which ever controller you start first isnt always #1. i noticed that I'll have a controller plugged in, and I'll start the xbox with a wireless controller and the plugged in controller is #1

Well if you have a wired controller then that would be the first because it is attached to the console. So when starting the console the first dibs is to the attached one.

But if you had no attached controllers then the first one you start would be the one.

I always have a wired controller plugged in, and if I turn the console on with a wireless controller the wireless becomes number one.

If I turn it on via the console itself, the wired is number one.
