I have x12's, and I think they are a solid wired headset. I hate the wires because I always get them tangled up, but they work pretty good.

I've tried both the AX 720s and the PX5s, and this Sony Pulse outperforms them both. And they're so damn easy to use. Plug in the USB dongle and boom, 7.1 sound. Amazing. The ease of use is even better for me because we have a PS3 in our living room and bedroom. Oh, and lets not forget that they're rechargeable... **** you batteries!

A tip for you iPhone/iPad owners... if you use your wall charger adapter, you can plug your Sony USB cord into it and use it to charge your headset so you don't have to keep your system turned on

        I seriously love these things.

Ha, I discovered the same thing. Nice because I keep my iPhone wall charger plugged in next to my couch.

IMO, yes, as there is literally ZERO popping or static.

Still have my old school Turtle Beach X1, works great. Obviously they're old as hell and don't even support them any longer.

Planned on getting them anyway but that game made me a believer in the 7.1 headsets. zero popping sounds great

                    Re: Gaming headsets

I've heard the new Sony headsets are pretty solid. However, I've also heard that the new Afterglow headsets blow the X500's out of the water. After I heard that, I was told the Black Ops II Tango headset kills them all. This was from someone who actually went to a convention in Las Vegas and got to use them. Personally, I liked the old Sony headset, but it was plagued by lag issues from it's wireless use. With 7.1 surround sound, any interference will cause lag with a pure wireless system how Sony does it, which is why I stay away from them now. BOII Tango headset on the 28th for me.

It's not sending 7.1 audio wirelessly, it's sending a premixed stereo stream.

I like my X12's, do you guys feel the DSS2 is worth it? I read from multiple reviews that it does not improve the experience.

                            Question regarding the Sony Pulse...

Is there a way this can be used as a headset to do a commentary while playing a game? Like, can the mic sync up to your PC while you're listening to your game, etc? Or how do most people do commentaries?

I don't think that's possible with any headset unless it is wired with separate audio in and microphone out cables.

One little annoyance I've found with the Pulse is that if you are recording with a Hauppauge capture device, the audio does not get recorded while using the headset. Makes sense (the audio is being sent through the wireless transmitter and not through the audio cables), but kind of unfortunate. Not sure if that happens with all headsets or what.

Been looking to upgrade from my TB X11 headset. I was looking at the Astro a40's but no way in hell am I spending 300$+ on a headset. Shipping alone to Canada via ground was 40$.

Anyone know of good headsets in the 100-200$ range?
