The headset itself is fantastic. But after 3 months we had audio cut out issues. You could spin the connection in the DS4 and hear it too. The connector wasn't good. Then sent it back and next one lasted one month before the same thing. If they had made the cord replaceable it would be such an easy and cheaper fix. The headsets felt and sounded great when working although no direct audio control on PS4 (just PC).

Yeah that sounds unfortunate. I only messed with them on PC and they did sound fantastic there.

I had to return the cord for a new one. Don't really use it anymore though. I plug them into my dac and use the Yeti. Not an option on consoles tho.

My friend bought a PS4 Pro to go with his Xbox One S. I had told him his Astro A50's would work ok with his PS4. After he got his PS4, but before he had a chance to hook it up to his Astros I read on the Astro site that the A50s third gen were specific to the console. Many people said they couldn't get theirs to work with the PS4 and the company, and other moderators had directed them to buy a second base for $100.

Anyways, my friend went ahead and connected up his PS4 to his Astros using the same base and it worked fine. So what is the deal with that, is the company that makes Astros just clueless or they trying to sell more hardware that you don't need?

Anyone here have the third gen Astro A50s and know about using it on both consoles?

So this is insane. As I said before I ordered the Plats from Amazon very late Sunday night into Monday morning. I have Prime so delivery was set for Wednesday.

So it was Tuesday night and the order status showed it still hasn't shipped and it didn't charge my card yet. So I called Amazon because I figured something must be wrong. So the lady I talked to said the order had been cancelled because they didn't have any in stock. I'm like what in the freakin hell man. This has never happened. They didn't even notify me. I went back and looked at the page where you can order it and it said in stock get it in two days.

So the lady said she would re-order it for me. Didn't know what was going on. So she re-ordered it and it was set to be here today.

Well I got it today and was super excited. Opened the box it came in and was about to open the actual box for the headset and noticed there was no tape securing the box and it had looked like someone ripped it off because the box was damaged there. It was also damaged on the corner of the box. So I open it and the headset just falls out. No plastic on it.

I look at the head set and there were heavy scratches on the a couple parts of the metal band. And pouch it comes with wasn't even in the box.

Needless to say I was pretty livid. How does this happen?

Called Amazon and got a lady I could barely understand. Told her about all of this and told her I wanted a brand NEW headset like I ordered and I want it shipped overnight so I get it tomorrow and not be charged for it.

So she agreed and set up a new order with free overnight shipping so I get it tomorrow.

I damn well get a new sealed headset.

tl,dnr Ordered the Plats new and Amazon sent me a used and damaged headset after already cancelling my first order because it apparently wasn't in stock even though it said it was. Getting a new one overnighted.

                Very very frustrating.

Amazon has been having a ton of issues with stuff like this lately. Happened to me last month. Had a pre-order that never shipped because they said they were out of stock. If I'm not mistaken the point of a pre-order is to hold something for you. If you have a pre-order you shouldn't be affected by an out of stock.

                      Yeah, I've heard that's happened to a number of people. That's why I don't pre-order games there.

I just can't believe a simple order for one thing that was in stock caused so many issues. Hopefully when I get the replacement tomorrow it will be all good. If something gets messed up again I will not be a happy customer.

I don't have the A50, but I have the latest version of the xbox one mixamp at my desk.

They sell an xbox one version that works with xbox and PC, and a PS4 version that works with PS4 and PC:

...it works with my xbox, pc....AND ps4.

I think they sell it that way because the consoles use different technology for voice communication, at least that is what I read at one point a couple years ago when I was looking for a wireless set that would work with both. Not sure why that wouldnt be the case anymore, unless potentially in a system update for PS4 it included the whatever was needed to use xbox wireless headsets (but nobody knew)? I suppose I could try my older stealth 500x on the PS4 to see if they work. Either that or Astro doesnt know what their hardware does.

Hmmm...well maybe that *IS* what happened then, at some point Sony did something to update their software so that it would work without having to buy a special PS4 specific base. My friend is happy his works but I felt a bit confused as to why it worked when it said in their forums and on their site that it would NOT work...
