Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
    Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
    Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

Wanted to quickly chime in on the Philips. Been rocking them since December and I absolutely love them.

You'll be happy with the purchase.

What would be the best headset available for the One X?

          Must haves: Wireless, Atmos.

There are no wireless headset that will work wirelessly with the Xbox One. All Wireless headset have to use the 3.5mm cable that will plug into the controller.

The Xbox One doesn't support Bluetooth or WiFi audio.

Im sure the next Xbox will.

You can get wireless sound via any that has a usb powered hub and gets sound in through an optical cable. However if you want wireless chat, it will have to be one specifically made for Xbox One to use chat through USB or direct wireless conection as some of the newer ones do, just like a controller. Otherwise that needs to be plugged into the controller for chat.

However, every one will have atmos. You just need to download the dolby app, pay 12.99 or whatever it is for headset atmos. Then in sound settings choose Atmos as the headset format and "my headset uses optical or hdmi for sound" if it does so.

                Re: Gaming headsets

Question: I use a set of Razer Carcharias gaming headphones (old, so comfy and work great, but volume knob janky so have to fiddle to get both ears working right then it's fine).

I wear them primarily at work (so for long periods of time), so comfort is great. I also occasionally do voice/video calls on my laptop, so the microphone is needed (otherwise I'd just do headphones).

Starting to look around (prime day around the corner, otherwise looking for deals in general). Idealy i'd be around 50 bucks, but seeing that the Arctis 3 is decent or the Arctis 5 or Hyperx Alpha are closer to 100 (I'd want them around 75 max probably going that route).

Or is there a more budget but better way to get a mic and headphones separately? I don't need wireless, and I end up plugging into PC or Xbox using the normal plug all the time.

Or just what are your thoughts? I'm fine going cheaper too if there's something good enough. I'm not a huge audio guy, but love the soft cups on my current pair (some sort of fabric not leather) and don't want a pair that grips my head too hard or anything like that.

Edit: found these for 99 on costco...a bit pricey but might be a good deal https://www.theverge.com/circuitbrea...dphones-review

                  Re: Gaming headsets

So I'm actually looking to sell my Astro A50's and get a pair of open-back headphones called the Audio-Technica ATH-R70x (not a gaming headset, just head phones). PM me if you're interested in the A50's.

The main reason is because although I love the A50's, I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth with them because I'm not using them to the full potential that I will use these other headphones. If a gaming headset costs some money, the several factors included in its cost likely have to do with:
                  • Brand name (have to get that one out of the way first)
                  • Newness
                  • Sound quality and capability (surround? bass extension? etc.)
                  • Microphone quality
                  • Wireless/Bluetooth compatibility
                  • Accessibility with devices
                  • Durability/build quality
                  • Comfort
                  • Internal & external noise-cancelling abilities
                  • Sound profiles (EQ'd for gaming)

The ones that I have bolded are ones that don't matter to me in the sense that I don't need these A50's with these things in mind. I'm looking to get headphones where I can play games, watch TV and movies, listen to music, etc. I really hardly game anymore, and when I do I'm barely playing online. Even then I hardly talk online at this point. If I do man, I'd rather just get a cheap headset this time around because I am really not giving this thing its value.

Plus, I'm not giving some of my other equipment its value. A couple of weeks ago I rented a movie and had to watch it late night, so I listened to it through my A50's. Since they can't connect to my receiver, I had lip-sync issues. I realized that I have a $2000 piece of equipment lying there waiting for headphones of heavy impedance waiting to be jacked into. That's why I want to spend the same amount of coin on a pair of decent open-backs so I can sell off the gaming headset.

I'm willing to bet that my headset easily has under 50 hours of gaming usage driving the cans themselves. When I first got the headset, I used it to record math lecture videos on YouTube, so only the mic was in use at those times. I have since then gone to three different microphones, and my headset normally collects dust (in a good way for someone buying it, meaning it's still very much "like new"). I simply just don't use it enough to justify its purchase, great as it is. So I'm hoping I can get something like $150-$200 from them on Craigslist. Anyone interested in getting a gaming headset couldn't get any better value than that.

I'm not in that market but it makes sense....I use my mic at work, so having one is good, but why I'm staying under 80-90...I can't justify something crazy and I rarely if ever play online anymore

Does anyone have experience with the "clip on mics" or whatever? I've even seen gaming ads for them, where you just add a decent mic to headphones....

Eh, ended up getting the HyperX Cloud Pro headset with a case for 50 bucks on Prime Day....20 bucks cheaper than the Cloud II's and I don't really need the USB stuff (I use 3.5 jack at work all the time and then at home on Xbox)...

Should be comfortable and quality enough at 50 bucks

Has anyone tried out the SteelSeries Arctis 7 headset? I looked on rtings.com and they have them as the best gaming headset. Also if I get these would they also work with my Xbox if I have it wired or would I need to get something else in order to use those headphones with my Xbox?

I think they just plug into the 3.5mm jack on a controller (unless you have the original old controller) so it should work...I don't have them but they sound really good...just a bit pricey for me right now

Really good Prime Day deal on the Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrium PC/Xbox One/PS4 headset..normally $150, now on sale for $69. Probably ending soon..
