Don't worry about it man. Not your fault and not a big deal. I'm sure they will be on sale again at some point.

            Re: Gaming headsets

Quick initial impressions on the Platinum wireless headset.

With the headset came a wireless USB adapter (bigger than the dongle that comes with the Golds), micro-USB cable, 3.5mm audio cable, and a bag for carrying.

Looks like they've learned from the Pulse Elites and Golds. Much sturdier than their previous efforts. I like the polished aluminum band across the top, the rubber support band under it is what actually comes more in contact with your noggin.

The rocker that controls chat and game audio is separate and labeled now. Separate from the + - of volume. Mute is there again, most all controls are again on the left earcup on the backside. The new 3D audio switch is on the right earcup. Looks like I could load two different preset audio loadouts on 1 and 2 now. The headset companion app was updated for the Platinums with more features now.

Sound is similar to Golds but the bass is definitely a bit more now. A good example of the 3D audio in use is something along these lines.

An enemy is behind you in a building shooting at someone, you can not only pin point that he's behind you but that he's upstairs on the second floor. The sound will feel behind you but also above you if that makes sense. It's insane actually.

I experienced this in Uncharted 4. Have yet to try it with BF1.

I'm extremely pleased with the purchase and the price was amazing in the deal Jare shared with us. I should've bought two.

They're miles nicer than the Golds and I loved the golds at the price point they were.

              Re: Gaming headsets

That's a great review, Bolt. Thanks for your thoughts.

Mine are charging right now, haven't used them in-game yet but just wanted to say my first impressions are positive as far as the build quality (they feel much sturdier than the golds) and comfort (felt great when I wore them a bit just to test out). I like that the button configs will be familiar for anyone who owned golds, and same key functionality (hold mute to adjust sidetone, etc).

Am gonna jump into Horizon shortly.

                Re: Gaming headsets

I've used my Platinums a couple times now, very nice. Good, full sound, and plenty of bass which is something some reviews criticized. In game performance I am very pleased with, and I'm really looking forward to the 3D sound in MLB The Show 17.

The only thing I'm disappointed with so far is inconsistent music performance when I connect to my PC with the 3.5mm cable. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with that, a couple times it seemed the Bass Boost profile was active when hardwire connected, other times it is flat sound like before I uploaded profiles from the app.

For you guys with a PS4 Pro, where do you put the dongle? I have mine in the third USB port, the one on the rear.

Do you know if there's been a firmware update since these were released? I'll probably do the restore through the app just in case

I've got mine on the front left. Not sure about a firmware update. Why, you getting disconnects or something?

My only disappointment with the Plats so far is I wish they had a little more bass.

Hah, nah I'm just super OCD about that. Awesome experience so far. Mic is clearer, positional audio is more pronounced (like you said) and just overall a nice step up from Golds

This does seem to be the Achilles heel of the Sony PS4 sets. I don't mind it but I know bass is an important factor to a lot of gamers

What is actually the problem with the bass? I updated the headset companion app from the PS Store and from there, you can customize your bass and audio modes to your liking. The update is free. I love it. When I fire a round from my Tiger tank, my brains are rattled!

The new app is definitely much improved. Very clean interface and easy to use.

They store in slot one or two and stay till you change them via the companion app.
