    Backwards compatable ??

I know this an old subject o bring up again and again .But I was over a friends today and saw a system update or download that had software patch into a system file for the ps3 fat system's that would allow themt o play ps2 games? Now why can't they do this for all the darn systems ?My only grind over is this i still love some of the ps2 games , like the Metal Gear Solid collection , **** ! I doubt most of fans get a remake of the old games in HD etc .But again the did the god of war series on in HD .So its not that far fetch .Maybe its the company. Then this afternoon I gotl looking aroundon ebay for some old fat 60gb ps3 and found some for around 100 to 200 bucks .Not bad considering . I just wish sony would implant a patch.IT CAN BE DONE!So why don't they, are gamers loossing interest in the old games ? Any thoughts from you hard core gamers out that miss the ole ps2 days

There is nothing to download to implement PS2 support. The consoles that have the functionality have some (or all) of the PS2 components to make that possible.

Would it be easier if Sony could/would enable it for current PS3's? Sure, but just hook up your PS2 (or re-acquire one) and play your old games through there. It's not that big of a deal.
