    Re: Nintendo 3DS Announced

Ok I'm feeling generous towards myself. What RPG is the best on 3DS?

The ones I have like are Final Fantasy, Turn Based, even some action ones (Star Ocean, etc) but Valkyria Chronicles I thought was the most unique. Not a big fan of grid based board RPGs.

Also are there demos of most of these games? If so a list that I could try would be awesome.

Well you zoned yourself off from the best RPG on the 3DS (Fire Emblem.)

If you want an incredible experience filled with an ever evolving story that never get repetitive, boring, tedious and/or redundant, then you must play Bravely Default more specifically its final act. That is the epitome of JRPG greatness in storytelling. 10/10 would experience immaculate story again.

I can feel the sarcasm literally dripping off this post, but I'll toss in a vote regardless.

Bravely is Final Fantasy in all but name, if you enjoyed the old FF games, particularly the ones like 3 and 5 with a job changing system, you'll probably like it. It does however lose steam toward the end, by all accounts.

Never played 3-5. I got into the series at 7. Played 8 and 10. Loved them then it went downhill for me with 13.

Did hear 12 was pretty good.

                  Re: Nintendo 3DS Announced

6 and 9 were hands down the best of the series, followed by 8 and 7 for me, personally. 10 started the downfall of the series, but 12 was a bright spot. Surprisingly good, even with the somewhat faulty battle system. I really wish they would have expanded on the battle system from 12 for the future of the series if that was the route they wanted to go, though. Setting up all the rules and stuff could be tedious, but it did it's job and could have been fantastic with a bit more tweaking/future iterations of it.

Play 6/9 (and maybe even 12 if you want to) on emulator. Bravely on 3DS is awesome for the job system. The second half of the game is utter ****, though, so be warned.

It can't hurt to at least try the demo for Fire Emblem Awakening. Bravely Default also has a demo you can try.

SMT IV is great. It and Fire Emblem are pretty close to me, but I admit it's not the most welcoming JRPG around. It pulls no punches, takes a good awhile to really get going, and the story is presented in an untraditional manner. Subtlety is one of the hallmarks of mainline SMT. The player is meant to be an observer who will come across different viewpoints and you decide what future you favor. You aren't beaten over the head with plot details and the setting is the real star of the story. Talking to NPCs allows you to piece together a better understanding of the world and because things aren't presented overtly, it can feel like there's not much story progression but that's not really the case at all, it's just a different style. It's one of those games that the more you care to poke around and look the more you will find and appreciate.

It's difficult to outright recommend it, so maybe watch some videos to see if it's something you might like. It's currently on sale for $19.99 at Amazon and Gamestop.

I'm playing it right now. It's good but be prepared, the difficulty in the opening stages of the game is ridiculous. For a guy that hadn't played many RPG's, I'm not sure if this was the best game to start with. The press-turn battle system is interesting, but if you wind up being ambushed by an enemy, there's a good chance you and your party are going to get wiped out.

Id still recommend it. Its pretty good value hours wise at the very least and does alot of things well. But the endgame...please never do that again.

I look forward to a new Bravely Default game in the future.

Just bought a Zelda XL (gold and black) with Pokemon X for $155. Didn't have the Zelda game with it but going to GameStop and getting it for $35. Since it's the Zelda version, I didn't care to spend a little more for it.

Really wanna get Fire Emblem, Mario Golf next.

I feel like the newest Fire Emblem was a step down from its GBA predecessors but agree that it's still the best RPG on the system. I hope they port over the next FE, whenever that is.
