    PS3 on computer monitor

I'm about to get a PS3. For my Xbox 360, there is a VGA adaptor that I use to hook my 360 up to my computer monitor. Is there something similar for PS3?

I do it all the time.

All you need is an HDMI cable if your computer has an HDMI input. If not, and your monitor is HDCP compliant, you can get a DVI-HDMI adapter for just a few bucks and use the HDMI cable for video. To get sound, you will most likely need speakers and the composite cables along with one or two other cables.

I used a HDMI to DVI converter. Ran the HDMI cord to the DVI and then used my A/V cables for audio by buying a Red/White female to male splitter then a female to female audio splitter so you can plug in headphone or speaker for sound. Then go to settings in the PS3 and set your audio to the Red/White cables and the video to HDMI.

All of these can be found at Radio Shack and are fairly cheap.

      Parts:

      HDMI to DVI converter
      Red/White female to male
      Female to Female audio splitter

Alright thanks. Looks like I already got the things I need for audio from my xbox setup. I just need an HDMI cable and the HDMI to DVI converter.

LOL, I went to Radio Shack, and got the wrong HDMI to DVI converter, I got the reverse of what I needed. Went back to return it, they were out of the one I needed. Then I went to another Radio Shack and got the right one. Come home, and it's hard to explain, but it's too big for my monitor. Like the connectors are right, but the middle part is too long, so I can't plug it in straight, because the bottom of my monitor gets in the way. Now I got to return it, and order a different brand online, which will actually end up being cheaper, but I'll have to wait a few days. I can't go back to SD, it's SOOO ugly.

Damn, I returned the DVI converter, and got a smaller one, probably about as small as they come, but it still won't fit. I uploaded, pics, do they make hdmi cables with smaller ends, small enough that it might fit in between the converter and the other part?

Ah yes, you need one of these... same reason they make angled serial ATA cables.

Or since you have the cable, you can get this.
