    Re: Wii U Discussion

Nintendo admits they underestimated the shift to HD game development (which forced the Pikmin delay), and hope their new framework will help developers streamline development by allowing Javascript and HTML5 as well as Unity-based titles on the system.

My (rhetorical, I suppose) question, is this company really so introverted and so top-down that they couldn't learn from what companies have gone through over the better part of a decade with either with effective R&D or outright (maybe even inadvertently) hired others in the industry that have navigated these growing pains?

I don't understand Nintendo like this....They had the same problem (in parallel almost) with 3DS. It may not have been as much the HD issue, but a 3D issue. This lead to the delay in quality games on a system and almost kills the system. Thankfully the 3DS has made a comeback, but I'm very hesitant on getting a WiiU....even with Nintendo games I'm not sure I need a main console like that. I'll just play 3DS and be happy.

Maybe they're using the same playbook? Dig the hole a little deeper with PR only to try and turn that around with an agressive price drop and 'welcome back' campaign?

They'll probably wait until the other systems come out before dropping price.

Still am enjoying my Day 1 purchase. My 5 year old is starting to play it more and more, and he just his first run with Donkey Kong (the original) this morning. I love the $.30 VC specials they run.

For me (and us), it's fitting a perfect niche. Wife and kiddo are playing Nintendo Land right now, and then I can get in some Madden, 2k, Bond, CoD, Lego City later.

The heavy hitters are right around the corner; my wife is intrigued by Pikmen 3 (as am I), and I'll probably get Mario 3D World.

At this stage of my life (36 with a 5 year old son), a fully Nintendo house (WiiU, homebrewed Wii, 3DSXL) fits us just right.

Just picked up Madden 13 cheap yesterday. Looking forward to getting into that a bit this week.

Yeah I'm glad I didn't dump mine as I know I would have repurchased one later.
                  Really looking forward to Pikmen

Madden IMO was very nice. The amount of "Lag" that was in it was no where near where some claimed it was. Oh well. HGH.

I loved the custom routes you could do on the pad. Any path you can draw they ran lol

Nintendo released Earthbound today for VC on Wii U.

You should play this classic if you haven't.

New Mario and Sonic game is looking nice:

                      <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/tpNjiFt7Xgw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/tpNjiFt7Xgw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

If done well, the Ice Hockey alone could make it a winner.

CoD: Ghosts coming to WiiU in November:

Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

Whether or not you're a CoD fan, it's still nice to see the big hitters (even if it has to be ported by Treyarch again) come to the console.

Personally, I'm indifferent on the whole CoD series, but it is nice to have a FPS using the Wiimote when I just feel the need to blast things.

Was considering it a few weeks ago when it was 227.00
Decided it would be a waste of money and I'd regret it as soon as the Nintendo games start rolling out.

Certainly wouldn't do it for less now.

                            9 days to Pikmen!!

According to Nintendo, between April 1 and June 30 of this year, the Wii U sold 160,000 units. Those are global sales figures. Over three months. Ouch.

Simple math tells us that the Wii U is selling, on average, fifty-three thousand Wii U consoles each month since April. That's not very good!

Even the Wii outsold the Wii U, moving 210,000 units during the last three months.

The Wii U needs a $100 price cut. $199 for the Deluxe, $249 for Deluxe with NintendoLand+. All the negative press and horrible sales numbers need to be turned around.

Pikmin 3 is getting great reviews. 88% (33 reviews) on Metacritic right now. Will there be a demo for that game? I didn't see the appeal in the game but my kids might like it. They liked the Pikmin portion in NintendoLand.
